Operated by Grant and Shelly Kuypers of Paradise Hill, the outfitter website also features a “Meet the Staff” section that includes a short background on everyone from owners and guides to cooks and caretakers. Having been involved with the industry, Kuypers easily adjusted to the role of business owner. Today, Buck Paradise operates three camps. The Paradise Hill Camp, with its beautifully crafted wood carvings throughout the lodges, is host to some outstanding whitetailed deer, bear, and bird hunting. The Green Lake Camp is a little further north and has great white-tailed deer and bear hunting. The Goodsoil Camp, a partnership with Kuyper’s brother and cousin, also focuses on white-tailed deer. The Buck Paradise website is one of its biggest marketing tools. With journal entries and new pictures being added daily during the hunting season, the site is logging a great deal of hits. Keeping the website current requires a lot of time, but it is an excellent way to stay in touch with its customers. “The hunters enjoy seeing it. We’ve got the journal and they all like to know what we’re doing up here,” Kuypers said, whose customer base is mainly from the United States. Elk Pronghorn Antelope “Key to any business is having good people working for you, and people that care about the business and are having fun. And we have fun with clients too,” Kuypers said. He explains that hunting is much more than just felling an animal. It’s about the adventure and the chance to meet new people. It is a story told over and over again: hunters finding excellent lodging, guiding, and then friendship with their outfitters. Both Grant and Shelly were raised in the Paradise Hill area and still run their farming operation there. Grant was introduced to guiding by his brother-in-law. After working as
