Romanesque Architecture
Romanesque architecture is known for its
rounded arches, barreled vaults, and thick
stone walls. Windows in the walls were
characteristically small in order to allow for
sufficient support of the walls. Buttresses
were on the outside to support the huge
weight.
Romanesque architecture was mainly used
from the 9 th century to the 12 th century.
