coordinating traffic studies that could impact bicycle/pedestri<strong>an</strong> <strong>an</strong>d tr<strong>an</strong>sit<br />

facility projects, etc.; review the technical traffic impact studies submitted by<br />

l<strong>an</strong>d developers for proposed projects in Miami Beach, <strong>an</strong>d provide prompt input<br />

to the admin<strong>is</strong>tration on accuracy of information provided in the studies as they<br />

relate to impact to the ex<strong>is</strong>ting tr<strong>an</strong>sportation system.<br />

Intersection <strong>an</strong>d Corridor Analys<strong>is</strong>: <strong>CALTRAN</strong>’s staff <strong>is</strong> experienced<br />

<strong>an</strong>d has performed multiple intersections <strong>an</strong>d corridors <strong>an</strong>alyses using the<br />

latest Highway Capacity Software or SYNCHRO 8 <strong>an</strong>d VISSIM. Traffic<br />

Signal operations will be retrieved from the Miami-Dade County traffic<br />

signal system. The intersection <strong>an</strong>d corridor <strong>an</strong>alys<strong>is</strong> will address: the<br />

impact of geometric improvements, the ex<strong>is</strong>ting <strong>an</strong>d future intersection<br />

LOS, interval <strong>an</strong>d phasing timing optimization, new signal timing pl<strong>an</strong>s,<br />

fuel consumption over benefits like reductions in control delay <strong>an</strong>d<br />

accident numbers or severity, as well as, community response among each<br />

alternative. <strong>CALTRAN</strong>’s latest intersection <strong>an</strong>d corridor <strong>an</strong>alys<strong>is</strong> <strong>is</strong> below:<br />

Project Name: Traffic Study <strong>an</strong>d Signal Design for Miramar Parkway & Palm Ave (2012):<br />

Scope: Traffic study that identifies <strong>is</strong>sues, operational needs <strong>an</strong>d provides<br />

recommendations that pertain to the proposed signal modification that includes to<br />

implement a dual left turn for the northbound <strong>an</strong>d southbound approaches at the<br />

intersection of Miramar Parkway <strong>an</strong>d Palm Avenue within the City of Miramar.<br />

Furthermore, developed signal design to be implemented at the mentioned<br />

intersection.<br />
