• ACTING THEATER CAMP – Every Tuesday in July, 6:40 p.m.
– Summer theater camp, which includes classes on acting, improvisation
and movement. Classes and rehearsals will culminate in a
public performance. Classes will be held for the entire family, 6 and
up at the International Folk Culture Center, located on 411 S. W.
24th Street, on the campus of OLLU. Registration is $25 per person
plus $4 per class. This event is free for OLLU student with valid ID.

• MESTÍZO BALLET FOLKLORICO – July 31, 7 p.m. – Mexican
Ministry of Foreign Affairs Instituto Cultural de Mexico proudly
presents Mestízo Ballet Folklorico “Mexico en la Piel”, regional
dances from La Huasteca and Northern Mexico. This event will take
place at 600 Hemisfair Park. Tickets will be sold at Instituto Cultural

• FIESTA NOCHE DEL RIO – 14 de agosto: Ven a disfrutar de

• GUADALUPE ART EXHIBITION – Through August 27 – The
Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center continues its series of art exhibitions
that celebrates the creators of the art that make San Antonio
unique. This event will bring to the public eye the people who work,
teach and live the arts that are essential to life. Seven artists will be
featured in this exhibition representing a wide range of talent. For

• TERRA INCOGNITA – Through August 29 – Acquired in 2006,
this suite of eight masterful color lithographs by little-known French
Symbolist Charles Dulac with working proofs for each print will be
shown for the first time at the McNay. The suite is a great example
of French color lithography at the end of the 19th century. The complete
suite is quite rare – only a few are known. General admission
is FREE on Thursday nights and the first Sunday of the month. For

Passport fees increase

Starting July 13, 2010 passport fees
increased in the United States.
The U.S. Department of State
increased fees for the adult passport
book from $75 to $110, and the
adult passport card from $20 to $30.
Passport books for minors increased
from $60 to $80 and the minor passport
card from $10 to $15. Passport
fees must be paid by check or money
order.
In addition, the City charges $25

(EFE) - Un documento anónimo,
distribuido ampliamente en Salt Lake
City, revela información confidencial
de 1,300 inmigrantes latinos de Utah
y pide la deportación de esas personas
al considerar que están ilegalmente
en el país.
El documento, fechado el 4 de abril
de 2010, fue enviado por el grupo
“Concerned Citizens of the United
States” (Ciudadanos Preocupados
de Estados Unidos), sin que se proveyese
ningún nombre o información
de contacto de esa organización.
Tampoco se incluye ninguna firma.
Una copia del documento fue enviada
a la sede regional del Servicio
de Inmigración y Aduanas (ICE, en
inglés) y otras copias se distribuyeron
entre agencias de seguridad de Utah,
legisladores y medios de comunicación.
La lista incluye los nombres, fecha
de nacimiento, teléfonos y direcciones
de 1,300 personas. En algunos
casos también se incluye el número
de seguro social y hasta la fecha de
nacimiento de los hijos.
En la carta que acompaña al documento,
el grupo dice que estuvo
observando a las personas incluidas
en la lista, quienes deberían ser deportadas.
La carta explica que el grupo se
concentró en mexicanos y que logró
infiltrarse en ciertas bases de datos
para obtener la información.
Varios de los medios de comunicación
de Salt Lake City trataron
infructuosamente de determinar el
origen de la lista y verificaron que la
información incluida es en muchos
casos incorrecta.
En una comunicado, Virginia Kice,
portavoz regional de ICE, indicó que
una copia de la lista llegó a su repartición,
pero puntualizó que la agencia
recibe “información del público (sobre
presuntos indocumentados) con
regularidad”.
Tony Yapias, director del Proyecto
Latino de Utah, afirmó que “muchos
residentes de Utah hoy están muy
asustados” ante la posibilidad de que
sus nombres estén incluidos en la lista
y que las autoridades locales decidan
entonces cuestionarlos.
Yapias afirmó que esto “supera
todo lo que jamás hemos visto en este
estado. ¿Hasta dónde quieren llegar?
Esto ya no es odio. La meta ahora es
aterrorizar”.
El activista dijo que trabajará con
otras organizaciones pro-inmigrantes
para proteger la privacidad de quienes
aparecen en la lista.
