Description:<br />

Outcome of <strong>UDF</strong> Committee meeting September 15, 2003:<br />

Not only the data for the Metadata File and its mirror must be located far apart, but also<br />

their File Entries and possible <strong>All</strong>ocation Extent Descriptors. The latter does NOT<br />

depend on the value of the Duplicate Metadata Flag.<br />

This DCN is meant for the next <strong>UDF</strong> revision after 2.50 and for the <strong>UDF</strong> 2.50 errata.<br />

In the NOTE after the second dotted list of 2.2.13.1 replace:<br />

NOTE: In the case where the Duplicate Metadata Flag in the Metadata Partition Map is<br />

set, the allocations for the Metadata File and Metadata Mirror File should be as far apart<br />

(physically) as possible. Typically this is achieved by maximizing the difference between<br />

the start LBNs of the extents belonging to the file and its mirror. Likewise the file entries<br />

for these two files should be recorded as far apart as possible. Some drive/media …<br />

NOTE: The File Entry and possible <strong>All</strong>ocation Extent Descriptors of the Metadata File<br />

should be recorded as far apart (physically) as possible from those of the Metadata Mirror<br />

File. The same counts for the allocated extents of these two files in the case that the<br />

Duplicate Metadata Flag in the Metadata Partition Map is set. Typically, recording far<br />

apart is achieved by maximizing the difference between the start LBNs of the descriptors<br />
