6.y.3 Requirements for Blu-ray Disc Recordable Format (BD-R)<br />

{note: this section is for <strong>UDF</strong> 2.50 errata only, for <strong>UDF</strong> <strong>2.60</strong> text, see DCN-5114}<br />

A Blu-ray Recordable disc (BD-R) is a Write-Once medium that can use Sequential<br />

Recording Mode (SRM) either with or without Logical OverWrite (LOW). Drive based<br />

defect management using the linear replacement algorithm is supported.<br />

For the BD-R File System Format for media using SRM with LOW (Pseudo OverWrite),<br />

<strong>UDF</strong> <strong>2.60</strong> is used. For further details, see the <strong>UDF</strong> <strong>2.60</strong> specification.<br />

The BD-R File System Format for media using SRM without LOW shall comply with<br />

<strong>UDF</strong> revision 2.50 and has the following additional requirements:<br />

For Volume Structure:<br />

1. The Partition Descriptor Access Type shall be 1 (read-only) or 2 (write-once).<br />

For File Structure:<br />

2. Unallocated Space Table and Unallocated Space Bitmap shall not be recorded.<br />

3. Only ICB Strategy Type 4 shall be used.<br />
