M2M Consulting

MORE WITH PEOPLE
It’s all about people. Without people any organization is
worthless. We like the idea of an apple to represent people
and their work: each is different and individual.
The apple has always been a metaphor for wealth and success.
Tasty and healthy, yet tempting, a symbol of beauty and fertility.
On the other hand, the apple also represents logical thinking
and spirituality, hope and wisdom. Apple trees symbolize both
the tree of life are represented by apple trees.
At M2M we see certain similarities between the apple and our
understanding of people and organizational development. An
apple can be a ‘golden delicious’, or a forbidden fruit, can be
sour or rotten to the core.
We plant and cultivate an apple tree. It germinates, grows and
matures under our care. We graft the tree, tend it and then harvest
the apple. We can measure, weigh and analyze the fruit.
An apple can be eaten raw, roasted, fried or grilled. An apple
can be a reason for temptation, be a gift or be sold.
Apples appear in many myths, folk stories and urban legends.
From Adam and Eve to Snow White, from Newton and New
York to the Beatles and Steve Jobs.
As an HR developer or people manager, your key role is to
support and cultivate your most important asset; your people.
You are responsible for their growth, development and energy
so that they prosper and perform, the fruit of your work.
We would like to partner with you – to help make it happen. We
wish you every success and look forward to working with you.
Yours sincerely,
Managers
ITH
leadership qualities
“Leadership is about creating a world people want to belong to –
together with them.”
Ulrich Mahr

“MANAGEMENT BY ...” WAS YESTERDAY’S APPLE.
Leadership is often reduced to mere management, looking only
for ways to become more effi cient. However, cost reduction,
restructuring and short-term activism are not enough.
Companies consist of people and interactions. As living and
social organisms they are too complex for such management
alone and will fall by the wayside.
TODAY’S APPLE IS… LEADERSHIP.
Managers with leadership qualities do more than manage. They
know how people tick. They understand how to bring people
together, to work, to think and to understand each other. They
understand people development as the core of their people
responsibility.
Leadership qualities are not due to formal hierarchy and power,
but to authentic credibility and reliable authority. Leaders have
the courage to seek new ways and provide clarity about what
needs to change and be achieved long term. That is what
leadership is about.
INVOLVING EMPLOYEES.
As consultants and experts in people and organizational
development we are committed to provide more than simply
traditional management.
We help develop leadership competence and support in creating
a culture of dialogue and success.
Successful leadership happens when you have the vision, the
courage of your convictions and the heart of your employees.
These are the ingredients for sustainable success – for you
personally and for your company.
This is what we do.
by making your employees successful”
La Iacocca

THE CHALLENGES.
As an HR professional or people manager your work is never
done. Changing goal posts, challenging targets and increased
workloads – on all levels. And everything should have been
done by yesterday.
This can result in various survival strategies: ranging from being
caught in the headlights to blind activism. The call for KPIs,
increased effi ciency and control is increasing. The result is often
more “doing” and less “thinking”.
The pressure is mounting. But people don’t think faster under
pressure – and certainly not better.
Work should not be like that. It is neither good for people, nor for
organizations; people’s potential is not realized and performance
suffers. People and organizations both lose out.
THE ANSWER.
Every day our customer projects confi rm:
Where there is trust, perspective and a sense of purpose people
naturally develop and can perform the incredible. In a learning
atmosphere unsuspected energy is mobilized creating job
satisfaction and commitment to the organization. Results
happen.
In our management, HR and organizational development
projects we put people first. We energize people and
organizations and balance them so both gain. Change
becomes easier, quality and sustainability of results improve.
This is what we stand for.
7

ORE
“The highest reward for a man‘s toil is not
what he gets for it, but what he becomes by it.”
John Ruskin

KEYS TO SUCCESS.
Markets are global, cost pressure is increasing. Products are
becoming more similar yet with a shorter life cycle and
customer demands are growing constantly.
We need to be smarter and more innovative. These are the
keys to success.
BEING SMARTER – ADDING VALUE.
But really good results are not ‘achieved’– they evolve. They
evolve through dialogue and exchange between different
perspectives and experience. When top talks to bottom,
manager to specialist, young to old, logic to intuition, male
to female, and when various cultures are brought together
constructively – this is being truly smarter.
In short:
All people can bring creativity and innovation to the table. If
people are really seen and valued, they themselves will add
value.
VALUES – ADD VALUE.
However, you have to initiate and foster this culture of dialogue.
This succeeds when people and organizations sharpen their
awareness, develop a learning culture and work on their values.
When people work together on the basis of mutual interest,
respect and trust, develop a solution-oriented attitude, accept
responsibility for themselves and their actions - then better
results follow naturally.
Where different disciplines, departments and cultures interact,
performance and enduring solutions are sure to unfold, leading
to greater things!
If dialogue is enabled and where listening becomes understanding,
we see smarter and more innovative solutions. More
added value is created, interfaces become clearer and work
becomes more healthy, interesting, and successful.
This is our aim.
each time we worked together in recent years.”
Ralf Kronig, HR Consultant, SAP AG
“During the last three years we have been offering short
workshops: Learn Espressos. Participants take away lots of
input, ideas and inspiration about a range of topics in a very
short time. You and your team really contribute to making the
Learn Espressos as successful as their name: small, strong and
powerful!”
Maria Krauskopf, HR Labor Employability,
Apprenticeships and Education, Medienthek, Merck KGaA
participants. But at the end, observers as well as participants
are inspired and motivated. The M2M seminars are also a great
experience for our future managers. In summary: M2M Consulting
is professional and customer-oriented, from start to finish!“
