Thomas Leysen, 43<br />
Chief Executive Officer<br />
Thomas Leysen holds a law degree from the University of Leuven.<br />
He started his career in the shipping and commodity trading business.<br />
He joined Umicore in 1990 and held various executive positions.<br />
He became CEO of Umicore in 2000. He is also chairman of VUM Media,<br />
chairman of Agoria and Eurometaux, and a member of the board<br />
of Atlas Copco.<br />
Jean-Luc Deleersnyder, 42<br />

Business group Zinc, Purchasing & Transportation<br />
Jean-Luc Deleersnyder holds a Masters degree in Electromechanical<br />
Engineering and a PhD in Operations Management from the University<br />
in Ghent. He was also a CIM Fellow at North Carolina State University.<br />
He joined McKinsey & Co in 1988 as a management consultant.<br />
He joined Umicore in 1995 where he successively occupied the position<br />
of head of the Strategy Department and Corporate Vice-President<br />
Human Resources. He was appointed to his present position in 1999.<br />
Alain Godefroid, 55<br />
Corporate Vice-President<br />
Legal Affairs, Environment Health & Safety<br />
Alain Godefroid holds a Law doctorate from the University of<br />
Brussels (ULB) and a MCJ from the University of Texas at Austin.<br />
After working as a lawyer in the United States and in Europe,<br />
he joined Umicore in 1978 as Legal Counsel. He was appointed<br />
to his present function in 1995.<br />
Marc Grynberg, 38<br />
Chief Financial Officer<br />
Finance, Information Systems<br />
Marc Grynberg holds a Commercial Engineering degree from the<br />
University of Brussels (Ecole de Commerce Solvay). After several<br />
management positions in the finance function at DuPont de Nemours<br />
in Brussels and Geneva, he joined Umicore in 1996 as Group Controller.<br />
He was appointed CFO in 2000.<br />
Martin Hess, 51<br />
Executive Vice-President<br />
Business unit Automotive Catalysts<br />
Martin Hess joined Degussa in 1972 as a commercial trainee.<br />
He served in a variety of functions and business units, gathering<br />
also extensive international experience in Africa and Asia in the<br />
course of totally 18 years living abroad. Since end of 1999,<br />
he heads the business unit Automotive Catalysts. He joined the<br />
Umicore Executive Committee following the acquisition of PMG.
