• <strong>PeopleSoft</strong> Mobile Agent <strong>8.4</strong>1 supports a new PeopleCode event, OnValidateSet, which<br />

expedites synchronization processing of large data sets.<br />

• <strong>PeopleSoft</strong> Mobile Agent <strong>8.4</strong>1 gives you the ability <strong>to</strong> can transfer databases between<br />

mobile devices by stripping the device-specific data from the database.<br />

• Mobile Agent dynamic enumerations enable the value displayed in one field <strong>to</strong> be<br />

dependent on the value in a related (referenced) field. This is the mobile version of<br />

display control/related field for PIA pages.<br />

Release <strong>8.4</strong>2<br />

• <strong>PeopleTools</strong> <strong>8.4</strong>2 adds a device resident programming capability <strong>to</strong> <strong>PeopleTools</strong> Mobile<br />

Agent in the form of PeopleCode-Mobile Edition. PeopleCode-Mobile Edition is a<br />

specialized form of the PeopleCode programming language meeting specific processing<br />

needs for mobile applications, working within the Mobile Agent architecture.<br />

• New functionality in <strong>PeopleTools</strong> Mobile Agent supports PocketPC Phone Edition,<br />

enabling sales and service professionals <strong>to</strong> seamlessly use mobile web services <strong>to</strong><br />

synchronize their <strong>PeopleSoft</strong> applications and <strong>to</strong> manage business opportunities more<br />

efficiently while offline. In addition, new features for PocketPC Phone Edition include one<strong>to</strong>uch<br />

dialing, which enables the mobile professional <strong>to</strong> dial any contact from within their<br />

<strong>PeopleSoft</strong> mobile applications.<br />

• Users of mobile applications can send and receive file attachments.<br />

• <strong>PeopleTools</strong> Mobile Agent now supports HTML areas, including the HTML Tree.<br />

Release <strong>8.4</strong>3<br />

• Increasing the jolt connection timeout value in ps<strong>to</strong>ols.properties has increased the<br />

default time for the synch server timeout from 120 seconds <strong>to</strong> 600 seconds. This new<br />

timeout value should provide sufficient time <strong>to</strong> complete a bootstrap synchronization.<br />

This setting can be set higher if timeouts persist. Higher settings have no adverse effects<br />

on performance.<br />

• To support large attachments, you can increase the size of the memory available <strong>to</strong> the<br />

web server Java VM.<br />

• To support Mobile Time and Expense, the Mobile Agent now passes all rows (his<strong>to</strong>rical,<br />

current, and future) that are effective dated <strong>to</strong> the mobile device during synchronization.<br />

This feature will achieve a more accurate calculation of expenses that are based on<br />

effective dated records.<br />

• The multi-language support for the Mobile Page Designer has been improved. The List<br />

View and Detail View labels in the Mobile Page Designer now reside in the related<br />

language table: PSMPDEFNLANG and PSMPCONTDEVLANG. You can translate those<br />

labels through the related language record.<br />
