Today's demands on power substations are greater than ever before,<br />

challenging operators to ensure reliable, non-stop power supply with<br />

reduced maintenance and installation costs. In this context, networking<br />

facilities in electric power substations are being redesigned to<br />

accommodate the desires of communities, where the high performance<br />

communication network should guarantee very strict requirements and<br />

comply with the IEC 61850-3 and IEEE1613 power substation standards<br />

to prevent the possible power disturbances and outages. Besides, the<br />

networking equipments are subjected to extremes of temperature and<br />

humidity, as well as electrical transients from high voltage switching.<br />

Korenix introduces managed gigabit redundant <strong>Ethernet</strong> switches for providing highly reliable network communication<br />

and real-time monitoring in critical power substation applications. The IEC 61850-3 and IEEE1613 certified power<br />

substation-rated <strong>JetNet</strong> 5628G modular managed gigabit <strong>Ethernet</strong> switches with 3 modular slots provide several types<br />

of fast <strong>Ethernet</strong> modules with high fiber/copper optic and gigabit port densities to deliver maximum flexibility for various<br />

network connection needs while reducing the overall connectivity costs. In addition to the fan-less design, ESD and surge<br />

protection, the <strong>JetNet</strong> 5628G supports various power input types, including 90~264VAC, 88~370VDC and 24/48VDC for<br />

flexible use in severe conditions of field power constructions. In the remote sites the <strong>JetNet</strong> 5012G series are used, which<br />

collect the data from the cameras and Intelligent Electronic Devices (IED), and transfer them to the control center through<br />

formed gigabit rings. In long-distance areas, the switches use SFP transceivers to further extend the data transmission<br />

through fiber connectivity.<br />

To provide users with easy maintenance, Korenix industrial managed switches incorporate LLDP and perfectly work with<br />

the patented JetView Pro i 2 NMS for allowing administrators to automatically discover devices and efficiently manage<br />

the performance of power substation networks. The non-stop operation of the network is achieved through the patented<br />

MSR redundancy technology with just 5ms recovery time. With the exclusive MultiRing technology of MSR, users can<br />

aggregate up to 12 fast <strong>Ethernet</strong> and 2 gigabit rings into a single <strong>JetNet</strong> 5628G and guarantee network reliability in<br />

applications with increased bandwidth and expended system. The switches fulfill the high-end management requirements<br />

by providing QoS, VLAN, IGMP Snooping, DHCP, and other advanced management and security features to ensure the<br />

high quality and reliable network communication.<br />
