The Tantasqua junior varsity boys’<br />

soccer team crushed Southbridge, 13-<br />

0, to improve their record to 6-3-2.<br />

Goals were scored by Greg Crane<br />

(two), Iassac Nichols, Mark Pover<br />

(two), Sam Rousseau, Mike Brothers,<br />

Nick Beaudoin, Cam Amadio, Billy<br />

Roscioli, Luke Kras, Alex Hardy <strong>and</strong><br />

Joshua Escobar. Assists were made<br />

by Greg Crane <strong>and</strong> Ryan Little.<br />

“It was good to see everybody back<br />

<strong>and</strong> healthy again,” noted coach Vin<br />

Siniscalchi.<br />

Amadio <strong>and</strong> Evan Parker shared<br />

goalie duties; Amadio had one save in<br />

the first half, <strong>and</strong> Parker had two in<br />

the second frame.<br />

Monday, Oct. 20<br />

• The Tantasqua junior varsity boys’<br />

soccer team beat their counterparts<br />

from David Prouty, 3-2. The Warriors’<br />

record improved to 7-3-2 with the victory.<br />

Mark Pover provided two header<br />

goals for Tantasqua, assisted by<br />

Steven Dunkum <strong>and</strong> Alex Hardy,<br />

while Evan Parket had a breakaway<br />

goal.<br />

Minding the net was Cam Amadio,<br />

who had 12 saves (five of them in the<br />

first half).<br />

• The Worcester South volleyball<br />

team (8-8) needed a fifth set to beat<br />

Tantasqua (5-13), 3-2. Set scores were<br />

25-22, 19-25, 25-15, 25-<strong>27</strong> <strong>and</strong> 15-12.<br />

For the Warriors, Rachael Nichols<br />

had 24 service points, Corrie Molleur<br />

had 30 attacks <strong>and</strong> 20 kills <strong>and</strong> her sister,<br />

Nicole, had 19 attacks <strong>and</strong> five<br />

kills.<br />

Tuesday, Oct. 21<br />

• The Tantasqua field hockey team<br />

(13-0-3) kept on winning by blanking<br />

David Prouty, 2-0. Goals were scored<br />

by Miah DiGregorio, assisted by<br />

Shelby Farl<strong>and</strong>, <strong>and</strong> Sarah Violette,<br />

assisted by Sally Chamberl<strong>and</strong>.<br />

• Both the Tantasqua boys’ <strong>and</strong> girls’<br />

cross country teams won their<br />

respective Southern Worcester<br />

County League West titles by running<br />

against Shepherd Hill <strong>and</strong><br />

Grafton at the Rams’ 3.1-mile course<br />

in Dudley. The teams achieved a perfect<br />

4-0 conference record.<br />

The girls’ team beat both Shepherd<br />

Hill, 20-41, <strong>and</strong> Grafton, 15-50.<br />

Shepherd Hill also defeated Grafton,<br />

18-43.<br />

The top 10 runners were: 1. Ali<br />

Tyburski (Shepherd Hill), 19:16; 2.<br />

Hope Hopkins (Tantasqua), 21:06; 3.<br />

Wednesday, Oct. 22<br />

• The Tantasqua varsity volleyball<br />

team closed its inaugural campaign<br />

with a 3-0 loss to Shepherd Hill on<br />

their home court in <strong>Sturbridge</strong>.<br />

Because of work being down to their<br />

gym, Shepherd Hill has played nearly<br />

all of their games on the road — <strong>and</strong><br />

amassed a 16-3 record along the way.<br />

Set scores were 25-17, 25-22 <strong>and</strong> 25-22.<br />

Tantasqua’s final record is 5-14.<br />

• The Tantasqua girls’ soccer team<br />

defeated Bartlett, 3-2.<br />

For the Warriors, Tabby Ruggieri had<br />

a hat trick, assisted by Jess Farl<strong>and</strong><br />

(once) <strong>and</strong> Katie Morrissey (twice).<br />

High School Notebook<br />

Nicole Stone <strong>and</strong> Bryana Poulin<br />

scored for Bartlett.<br />

• The Tantasqua junior varsity boys’<br />

soccer improved to 7-3-3 by tying<br />

Bartlett, 2-2, on the Indians’ home<br />

field in Webster.<br />

Goals for the Warriors were scored<br />

by Billy Roscioli <strong>and</strong> Steve Dunkum.<br />

In goal was Cam Amadio, with three<br />

saves in the first half <strong>and</strong> seven in the<br />

second half.<br />

Friday, Oct. 24<br />

• The Tantasqua field hockey team<br />

clinched the SWCL West division<br />

with a 9-1 victory over Southbridge.<br />

The win improved their record to 14-<br />

0-4 (9-0-1 in SWCL West).<br />

Tantasqua goals were scored by<br />

Sarah Violette (five goals), Shelby<br />

Farl<strong>and</strong>, Kate Misaiszek, Jenna<br />

Howarth <strong>and</strong> Mackenzie Kirker.<br />

Southbridge’s goal was scored by<br />

Katie Lora.<br />

• The Tantasqua boys’ soccer team<br />

improved its record to 11-2-4 (7-1-3 in<br />

SWCL West) by beating Southbridge,<br />

6-0 (0-17-0, 0-11-0 SWCL West).<br />

D.J. Salisbury scored two goals for<br />

the Warriors, along with single goals<br />

by Garrett Danna, Christian Seguin,<br />

David Cardoso, <strong>and</strong> Blake Minchoff<br />

(who had his first varsity goal on a<br />

penalty kick in the 77th minute).<br />

Minchoff also scored his 6 1/2th<br />

shutout of the season in goal, with<br />

seven saves.<br />

Eric Lincoln minded the goal for<br />

Southbridge, recording 12 saves.<br />

• The Tantasqua JV boys’ soccer team<br />

picked up its eighth win of the season<br />

by blanking Southbridge, 10-0.<br />

Goals for Tantasqua were scored by<br />

Issac Nichols (two), Cam Amadio<br />

(two), Pat Adams (who also had two<br />

assists), Michael Brothers, Nick<br />

Beaudoin, Greg Crane (one assist),<br />

Josh Escobar <strong>and</strong> Ryan Little. Evan<br />

Parker recorded an assist.<br />

Amadio, Nichols <strong>and</strong> Crane split<br />

goalie duties for Tantasqua. Amadio<br />

had three saves in the first half, while<br />

Nichols <strong>and</strong> Crane each had two in<br />

the second half.<br />

Team MASS girls’ basketball to hold tryouts<br />

Team MASS Girls’ Basketball tryouts for the 2009 spring season will be held Sunday, Nov. 9 at<br />

Auburn High School <strong>and</strong> Sunday, Nov. 16 at Tantasqua Regional High School in Fiskdale. Girls<br />

aged 10-13 will try out from 1-3 p.m., <strong>and</strong> 3-5 p.m. for ages 14-16.<br />
