Firefighters were joined by around
50 people including partners from
Irlam and Cadishead Health
Improvement Service to have a
brew and a snack as part of the
World’s Biggest Coffee Morning –
organised by Macmillan Cancer
Support.
Firefighter Dave Pike said: “So
many people came, we had
mums and toddlers through to
some more experienced
members of our community – it
was really nice.
“Irlam Fire Station is now used
every day by different community
groups and the coffee morning
was an opportunity for members
of the public who wouldn’t
normally come into the station to
meet the crews and see how
much the station has become an
integral part of the community.
“It was great to work with
partners from the Health
Improvement Service to raise
money for such a great cause.
“Altogether we got £92.78 and
the coffee morning also gave us
the opportunity to offer fire safety
advice and book a number of
Home Safety Checks and we
hope it’ll become an annual
event.”
