AFTERSCHOOL FOR ALL: PROJECT 2010 <strong>PA</strong>RTNERS<br />
In America today, millions of young people are alone and unsupervised in the hours after school,<br />
be<strong>for</strong>e parents return home from work. This situation places children and teens at risk <strong>for</strong><br />
juvenile crime, substance abuse, teen pregnancy, and other problems. It means students are<br />
wasting precious time when they could be learning. And it leaves millions of working parents<br />
worried about their children when they should be focused on their jobs. This unproductive,<br />
untenable, and unacceptable situation would be remedied if our nation invested more fully in<br />
afterschool programs that keep kids safe, support working families, and help young people<br />
succeed in school and in life.<br />
Individuals and organizations across this nation are coming together to advance universal access<br />
to afterschool. Partners of Afterschool <strong>for</strong> All: Project 2010 include educators, youth advocates,<br />
policy makers, faith-based leaders, parents, business leaders, police and prosecutors, and others<br />
who recognize that afterschool programs are a necessity <strong>for</strong> youth, families and communities.<br />
The strength of the ef<strong>for</strong>t lies in the breadth and diversity of these partners. Project 2010 partners<br />
agree that all children and youth should have access to quality, safe and enriching afterschool<br />
