“AFTER MASS MUNCHIE FEAST”
The third weekend of the month will always
be our “After Mass Munchie Feast”. Our
second “Feast” will be held the weekend of
May 17th and 18th. Join your family and
friends in the narthex for sweets, juice, and
coffee after each mass. We are looking for
help in the setting up and cleaning after each

MOTHER’S DAY ROSES
Fresh, long-stemmed red roses will be for
sale today after all Masses. Members of
our parish family will be selling the roses
for a $2 donation, under the sponsorship

The Rosary is prayed daily, Monday through
Saturday at 7:15 A.M. There is Adoration and
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament on
Tuesdays after the morning mass until
10:00PM (except when there is a Holy Hour),
Wednesdays after mass until 4:00PM &
Thursdays after mass until 10:00PM. There is
Holy Hour every 1st Tuesday of the month at
7:00PM. (Adoration concludes at 7:00PM on the first
Tuesday of the month.) Confessions are heard every
Saturday from 3:00-3:30PM and on the FIRST Saturday of
the month after the 8:00AM Mass.
BAPTISM PREPARATION CLASSES
All parents wishing to have a child baptized at St. Lucy’s must
attend a Baptism Preparation Class before making an
arrangement to choose a date for the baptism. We
strongly encourage both parents to attend one of
the classes before the birth of the baby.
The classes will be held on Sunday evenings once
a month (usually the first Sunday of the month) at
6:30 p.m. in the church. The next class offered will be June 1,
2008. The Baptismal Fee of $25.00 should be paid when
attending the class. Please call the Parish Office to register for
the class.
Please keep in mind when choosing godparents ~~ at least one
sponsor must be a baptized, confirmed, practicing Catholic and
it is required that the Sponsor Form be signed and approved by
the parish at which the sponsor is currently registered. The
sponsor form should be returned to the Parish Office at St.
Lucy’s at least two weeks prior to the baptism date.

make arrangements for a date after taking the class.

ST. LUCY PARISH SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING
The St. Lucy Parish School Committee
announces the May meeting, which will
be held in the teacher’s lounge, on
Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at 7:00 p.m.
All parish members and school parents
are welcome to attend.
The School Committee is a parish committee whose purpose
is to determine and develop the policies which govern the
operation of St. Lucy School and the youth and adult
education of the parish. Anyone who has a concern that they
would like to present to the School Committee is asked to
please contact the School Committee chairperson (Jay
Douglas, 681-6101) at least one week prior to the next
meeting date. If the issue is determined to fall under School
Committee purview, you will be invited to present your
concern at a designated time at the next meeting.
As always, minutes from past meetings are available in the
school office, and you may contact any School Committee
member with any question or concern at any time.

ST. LUCY ALTAR SOCIETY NEWS
The May Meeting of the Altar Society will be held on
Tuesday, May 13, 2008 in the large room off the Narthex of
the church at 1:00 p.m. Please take a few minutes and come
and attend the meeting. All women of the parish are invited
and are members of the Altar Society. Hope to see you there!
St. Lucy Festival Craft Booth: The St. Lucy’s
Altar Society will again be in charge of the Craft
Booth at the Festival in July. We will be
needing: Theme Baskets, Homemade Crafts,
Knit or Crocheted Afghans, Baby Blankets,
Etc. New this year!—The Altar Society will be selling
chances on a New Baby Crib, Mattress, and Furnishings. The
sheets, etc. will be a neutral color for girl or boy.
Any donations for this project will be greatly appreciated.
If you have any questions with regard to this project, or
any other questions with regard to donations for the Altar
Society Craft Booth for the festival, please do not hesitate
to call Ruth Organ at 554-8255 or Fran Kuehnl at 554-
5169.
Registration forms for the upcoming fall for all
Rel. Ed. Programs are located at the kiosk for your
convenience. Be an early bird and register your
children now and avoid the “Late fee.”

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL MEAL PROGRAM
On May 20th, St. Lucy Parish will host the St.
Vincent De Paul Meal Program. This is the
perfect opportunity to share with others less
fortunate. We are in need of parishioners to

MEMORIAL DAY WALK INVITATION
St. Lucy Parish School would like to invite you to
walk with our students to Pritchard Park on Friday,
May 23, 2008. This is the 9th Annual Memorial Day Walk to
honor our soldiers both past and present. If you would like to
join us on our walk, we will be leaving immediately following
the 8:00 AM mass. If you would prefer to meet us by the
Veteran’s Memorial for our tribute, we anticipate our arrival to
be at approximately 9:30 AM.

THE FOUNDER OF MOTHER’S DAY was a woman
by the name of Anna M. Jarvis. Concerned about the negative
treatment of mothers by their adult children, she initiated a
letter-writing campaign in hopes of starting a special Mother’s
Day observance. The first Mother’s Day celebration was
actually a church service held in Grafton, West Virginia, on May
10, 1908.
Today, Mother’s Day is a popular occasion, warm and
joyful in spirit. Flowers and gifts are often the order of the day;
and greetings are sent not only to one’s mother, but often to any
care-giving, nurturing woman who merits the accolades of
motherhood.
