CAPITAL CAMPAIGN UPDATE
The Capital Campaign for the PACE program was
officially launched at the monthly meeting of LUV on
Thursday, April 19th. Presentations about the PACE
program were made by Cheryl Wilson, St. Paul’s CEO,
and by Dr. Dennis Erlich, a geriatric physician. Dr. Erlich
gave an impassioned presentation about the need for
PACE services in San Diego.
We have begun work with Sue Fornabai, Campaign
Counsel with Holliman Associates, who is currently
working with us to identify our leadership, our plan and
our timetable for the campaign.
We have received a pledge of $1 million as a matching
grant if we can raise another $2 million toward our total
goal of $3 million. We have also received two initial gifts
of $1,000 toward the campaign.
We are beginning Phase I of our campaign while we
continue to actively look for the right piece of property to
house the PACE program for the future. As soon as we
find that property, we will begin Phase II.
We ask for your continued prayers and support as we
move into an exciting future of additional services for a
frailest segment of our senior population to enhance
their quality of life, medical care, and support for them
to remain in the home of their choice.

AWARDED CFRE
The Rev. Dr. Michael T. Jacobs,
Executive Director of the St. Paul’s
Retirement Homes Foundation,
was awarded the professional
designation Certified fund Raising
Executive (CFRE) by the Association
of Fundraising Professionals.
The CFRE Professional
Certification Program is an
independent credentialing program conducted in cooperation
with leading philanthropic associations. The CFRE Board is
made up of representatives from various types of fundraising
settings and also includes members of the public representing
the interests of donors. Nine professional associations
participate in the CFRE program.
Individuals granted the CFRE credential have met a series of
standards set by the CFRE Board which include tenure in the
profession, education, professional achievements and a
commitment to service to non-profit organizations. They
have agreed to uphold a code of ethics and the Donor Bill of
Rights. Additionally, candidates must pass a written
examination testing the knowledge, skills, and abilities
required of a fund raising executive. There are 4,005
professionals around the world who hold the CFRE
designation.
