On May 24, Edwin Antonucci<br />

and his wife became the<br />

proud parents of Ryan Edwin<br />

Antonucci, 7 pounds, 14 ounces.<br />

1982<br />

Dino Veronese reports that his<br />

nephew, Lieutenant Colonel<br />

Sherman R. McGrew ’75 was<br />

married on October 26, 2007,<br />

before beginning his present<br />

tour of duty with the Army<br />

Reserves in Iraq. <strong>Poly</strong> attendees<br />

Frank Jenks ’69 and William<br />

Veronese, the groom’s cousin.<br />

1983<br />

John Bonina lives with his<br />

wife, Patricia, in Brooklyn<br />

Heights, and works as a partner<br />

at Bonina & Bonina PC. He<br />

is president of the New York<br />

State Academy of Trial Lawyers.<br />

American Lawyer Media and<br />

New York Magazine have named<br />

him one of the best lawyers<br />

in New York, and Martindale<br />

Hubbell rated him as an<br />

AV-level attorney, for professional<br />

excellence. John coaches<br />

the teams of his sons, John<br />

William and Nicholas, at the<br />

78th Precinct Youth Council.<br />

Gail Henderson-Belsito<br />

writes my life’s journey,<br />

In 2007, after 15 years on Wall<br />

Street, Edward F. Monahan<br />

retired to Kiawah Island, SC.<br />

Major William Mott spent<br />

four years at IBM as a technical<br />

writer. For 16 years, he has<br />

served as an Army personnel<br />

officer. He has two daughters,<br />

Morgan, 8, and Lauren, 5.<br />

1984<br />

In October 2007, Rob<br />

Carvalho and family dedicated<br />

a new <strong>Poly</strong> classroom in<br />

honor of Carvalho’s mother,<br />

Anita, a longtime math teacher<br />

at the school.<br />

In January, Doug Jabara visited<br />

<strong>Poly</strong>’s Glee Club and sang<br />

several songs, among them bits<br />

from La Traviata and Gilbert<br />

and Sullivan’s “I Am a Pirate<br />

King.” After his performance,<br />

the singer talked to students<br />

about the differences between<br />

Broadway, operetta, and opera<br />

styles. (See page 4.) Jabara sang<br />

at the Mineola Choral Society’s<br />

60th Anniversary Celebration<br />

in January at the Cathedral of<br />

the Incarnation in Garden City,<br />

NY. The Mineola Choral Society<br />

is directed by Tom Jones, longtime<br />

head of <strong>Poly</strong>’s Performing<br />

and Visual Arts Department<br />

and husband of performing<br />

arts teacher Sonya Baehr.<br />

1985<br />

Steven Kessler and Sarah<br />

Sarina Gordon welcomed<br />

Tobias Glen Kessler (7 lbs. 11<br />

oz.) to the family on March 11.<br />

1986<br />

Drew Koven’s business, Geoff<br />

& Drew’s Incredible Cookie<br />

Company, was honored in May<br />

by the Junior Achievement<br />

Boston Business Hall of Fame.<br />

The company was cited for its<br />

outstanding corporate citizenship<br />

and for furthering Junior<br />

Achievement’s mission to<br />

teach students about business,<br />

financial literacy, and workforce<br />

readiness.<br />

1987<br />

Thomas Fritsch, captain of<br />

coach Ed Ruck’s final soccer<br />

team, attended Ruck’s April<br />

retirement dinner. Fritsch<br />

took the podium to pay tribute<br />

to Ruck, who volunteered his<br />

time before school every<br />

morning to teach Fritsch to<br />

swim. (See page 10.)<br />

1988<br />

Stella Angelakos is running<br />

a succesful human resources<br />

consultancy and just finished<br />

her master’s at Columbia.<br />

Christos Athanitis graduated<br />

from Lehigh University with<br />

his MS in manufacturing<br />

systems engineering. He<br />

works as a global commodity<br />

manager at Black & Decker<br />

in Annapolis, MD. He and<br />

his wife Lindsey have two<br />

boys, Loukas and Nicholas.<br />

Matthew Bracco works for<br />

the Bank of Tokyo and lives<br />

in Atlanta with his wife, Ann.<br />

The couple has two children,<br />

Matthew, 2, and Katie, 1.<br />

Cynthia (Cheswick) Capone<br />

recently traveled with her family<br />

to Sardinia and Munich. “We<br />

went to a different, gorgeous<br />

beach every day. The weather<br />

was absolutely perfect.”<br />

Melissa Davidson-Grimes<br />

graduated from SUNY Albany<br />

with a master’s in information<br />

science. “I was interested in<br />

going back to school, post-<br />

Internet, having gotten my BA<br />

pre-Internet. I am now looking<br />

for a full-time library position.<br />

I live in Ulster County,<br />

NY, but am looking for a<br />

warmer climate.”<br />

Samantha L. DiGennaro’s<br />

favorite <strong>Poly</strong> tradition was<br />

hearing Dr. Patterson read<br />

Lindsay Noelle and Alexis Lynn,<br />

daughters of Todd Prager ’88.<br />
