NYIT (e.g., athletics) may be granted permission to arrive early.

Late Arrivals
Students must notify RLH if they plan to arrive after the official
opening date for campus housing or they may forfeit their
housing deposit and room assignment.
Right of Inspection
SUNYIT reserves authorized employees’ right to enter residence
hall suites at any time to ensure both the safety and well-being
of members of the college community and the good condition
of SUNYIT property, and for the following purposes:
• Housekeeping
• Damage and safety inspections
• Occupancy and vacancy determination
• Emergencies
• Investigation of suspected violations of the Student
Code of Conduct and/or the Residence Hall License
Agreement
• Scheduled inspections following advance notice to
residents
Housing Deposits and Room Reservation
New Students must have:
• $150 housing deposit on record at the Bursar’s Office
• Completed Request for Accommodations Form on
file in RLH at the time of deposit.
Returning Students must have:
• $150 housing deposit on record at the Bursar’s Office
by the deadline established by RLH
• Participated in the room selection process and
completed and returned a Request for
Accommodations Form to RLH
• Registered (full-time) for fall classes by May 1 and
December 1 for spring classes.
Note: Students who participate in room selection and are later
aca demically dismissed will lose their housing. Students who are
readmitted to SUNYIT must reapply for housing.
Refunds
Students registering and occupying a room for two weeks
or less who move out for a college-approved reason will receive
a pro-rata refund for housing based on the number of
weeks (a partial week is considered a full week) in housing.
For this purpose, weeks are defined as beginning on
Sunday and ending the following Saturday at midnight. Any
student who occupies a room after the Saturday following
the second full week of classes is responsible for the entire
semester’s housing charge. Exceptions may be made when a
student withdraws to enter active military service or due to
circumstances beyond his or her control.
Termination of Housing License
Before withdrawing from SUNYIT, a student must terminate
his/her housing license by notifying RLH in writing at the
earliest possible date. Failure to terminate the license in the
prescribed manner may result in charges for room rental,
moving, and storage.

Upon withdrawal, a student must terminate his/her occupancy
of the residence hall by:
• submitting a completed mail forwarding card to RLH
• removing all belongings and cleaning the assigned
room
• contacting a RLH staff member to complete the
checkout process
• signing the Room Condition Report
• turning in all residence hall keys to the RLH
Residents withdrawing from SUNYIT must vacate the residence
halls and remove all personal belongings from its
premises no later than midnight of the date on which the
withdrawal becomes effec tive. Items left in storage will be
held for a reasonable period of time and then appropriately
discarded. The Bursar’s office will mail any refund check to
a withdrawing resident’s permanent mailing address in the
order in which the approved refund request is received.
Rental Rates
Rent is paid by the semester upon receipt of a bill from the
Bursar. The provisions of this license are not in effect and
room assignments are not made until a student is formally
admitted to SUNYIT, a $150 room reservation deposit has
been received, a Room and Board Accommodations Form
has been signed and returned to RLH, and the student has
registered for classes (full-time).
Standard accommodation is a suite occupied by four persons
of the same sex and bedrooms occupied by one or two persons.
As necessary, SUNYIT reserves the right to triple the
standard double rooms. Once rooms have been assigned,
any changes in assignment must be ap proved in writing by
the Director.
Residents are billed for standard occupancy before the
begin ning of each semester. The tentative room and board
rates for the 2008-2009 academic year are as follows:

The Director reserves the right to reassign a student to another
room to consolidate rooms. If a reassignment is refused,
the student may lose his or her housing.
In accordance with the college’s equal opportunity policy
