COIN describes the Negotiating Climate Change course as follows:
“As trades unionists, we always have to be one step ahead. Working
together in groups, this workshop will help you to tackle questions like:
“How do I mobilize members around climate change action?” “What kind
of things are members going to be asking me to negotiate about?” “How
do I approach management about climate change issues?”
This workshop enables participants to:
• Find out about the Carbon Reduction Commitment, the Climate
Change Act and emissions trading.
• Be ahead of the game with employers.
• Work out how management will respond to climate change legislation.
• Identify what makes members deny and evade climate change.
• Discuss what kind of sustainable society we should be negotiating for,
and,
• Take part in a practice negotiation action on climate change.”
