Theatre, doing exceptional business with<br />
"The Seventh Seal," is holding it for three<br />
weeks . . . Alfred Taylor takes over as<br />

Matilda Fenberg, who at one time was<br />
secretary to Clarence Darrow, spoke here<br />
in behalf of "Compulsion," due at the<br />
Woods Theatre. In for the same purpose<br />
was Myer Levin, the author of the story . .<br />
Tow Dowd, operator of the Capri, appointed<br />
Tony Valente, formerly at the Mercury,<br />
as manager. Gloria Mendelsohn,<br />
Dowd's secretary when he managed the<br />
Zlegfeld, now the Capri, has returned to<br />
the staff as secretary.<br />
Emie Panaz, owner of the Coronet at<br />
Davenport, and the Capitol at Iowa City,<br />
was on Filmrow. He had deals for all five<br />
of the Academy Award nominees, thus was<br />
able to play the winner the day following<br />
the telecast . . . Maurice Chevalier, who<br />
is appearing In the Empire room of the<br />
Palmer House, flew to Hollywood for the<br />
Academy Award telecast.<br />
