Lincoln campuses offering Practical Nursing programs adhere to a more disciplined Attendance Policy.
Please refer to the Nursing Handbook for an explanation of the Nursing Attendance Policy.
And replace with:
Nursing Attendance
Students are expected to attend classes and labs as scheduled, and to be in class on time. Violation of this
policy may result in withdrawal.
65 / 9676R1213 Page 5 of 14

1. The “Student Time Sheet” is a record of attendance hours maintained by the Faculty. Students are
expected to sign in/out for each class/lab on a daily basis.
2. The official record of attendance is maintained in Lincoln’s CampusVue database. Actual minutes
of presence and absence are entered daily by each course instructor.
3. Absences from any form of scheduled learning activity – lectures, seminars, skills laboratory,
clinicals, or conferences – count toward the cumulative hours of allowable absences (see below).
Attendance: Lincoln Technical Institute assumes a student who registers for a course accepts
responsibility for full participation in all course activities. Students are expected to attend all classes,
clinicals, and lab sessions. The responsibility for work missed because of an absence rests with the
student. There is an overall attendance philosophy which is applied as follows:
1. Absences may not exceed ten percent (10%) of scheduled didactic and/or lab hours per quarter.
2. Absences may not exceed ten percent (10%) of scheduled clinical hours per quarter.
3. Once a student reaches five percent (5%) absence in any course, she/he will receive a warning.
4. Once a student exceeds the allowed percentage, she/he will be withdrawn from the course.
5. Students who miss five (5) consecutive calendar days without contacting the supervising Faculty or
Program Director will be automatically withdrawn from the program.
Refer to the current student handbook for additional information regarding the tardiness policy.
Withdrawal: Students withdrawn for attendance may seek readmission for the following quarter through
the office of the Education Supervisor.
Add the following policy to page 36:
Nursing Academic Remediation and Progress Policy
Nursing students are expected to have a mastery of each course material before they are allowed to
progress onto the next term. One method of determining content mastery is through the use of
standardized testing (HESI Exit Exams and NCLEX licensure exam). Research demonstrates that the HESI
Exit Exam is highly predictive of NCLEX success.
To prepare for the exit exam, students will be given “specialty” practice exams. Students scoring below
900 on specialty and exit examinations will be placed on academic probation and expected to complete
mandatory remediation. Upon completion of remediation, a score of an 850 must be achieved to move
forward in the program. Students who fail to successfully complete the remediation modules will be
given an “F” for the course grade and be dismissed from the program.
I. Specialty examinations
A. HESI Practice and Specialty exams are administered in various courses. Following test
administration, students receive a score and an online remediation plan for each question
missed. Remediation for each question has multiple content items and may include practice
questions.
B. Students scoring less than 900 on the exit examination are expected to remediate according
to the following guidelines and submit proof of remediation to their advisor before taking a
second exit examination. A 900 benchmark score on the HESI exam is strongly encouraged
before sitting for the NCLEX-PN examination.
700-799 5 hours
600-699 7 hours
500-599 9 hours
400-499 11 hours
C. Students must achieve minimum of 850 upon remediation to proceed in their program.
Remediation Progress: If necessary, two additional exams may be administered prior to exit
from the course. The second exam will be scheduled approximately three (3) weeks following
the first attempt..
If the student does not attain a minimum of 850 on the third attempt the student will receive
an “F” for the course. Students who do not successfully complete the remediation modules by
the end of the term will be given an Incomplete for the course and allowed two weeks to
complete the modules and retest. Students who do not successfully complete the modules will
be removed from the program and given a letter grade of “F” for each class that remediation
was not successfully completed.
Replace the 2 nd paragraph of following policy on page 39:
Transfer Credits
Students who transfer credits from an accredited postsecondary institution will receive a grade
of TR on their transcripts. Those courses which have been accepted as transfer credit are not
included in the cumulative grade point average (CGPA) calculation but are calculated towards
the maximum time frame to be used to determine a student’s satisfactory academic progress.
Courses that are the same (Course code, Course Name, Credits and Description) that are
transferred from one Lincoln campus to another, will be calculated within the student’s CGPA
to the new campus. This is determined by the campus administrator within the campus system.
Add as the last paragraph to the following policy on page 39:
Withdrawals and Incomplete Grades
Any student who wishes to withdraw from Lincoln Technical Institute will need to go to the
Education Office and complete Withdrawal form. Withdrawals are effective as of the date
entered.
