P&Q Initiatives - 5S by En Abdul Malek Mohamad Aripin, MPC
A briefing on the Quality Environment (QE/5S)
techniques drew the attention of the participants on
the merits of enculturation and mustering quality
environment practices. Quality Environment or 5S is
an acronym for five Japanese words - Seiri, Seiso,
Seiketsu and Shitsuke.
Thus the increasing number of companies going for
QE/5S audit and certification as the physical work
environment is critical for high quality, low cost and
speedy delivery. Achieving certification is a “public
declaration” of one’s commitment to quality
environment.
A clean, tidy, safe and better workplace will bring
about much benefits such as improved productivity,
standardisation measures, more orderliness hence
less time to retrieve and search for items - saving
time, promoting work efficiency, enhanced teamwork
spirit , developing kaizen mindset of employees and
ultimately enhanced quality products and services.
Speech by MPC Director General At The Closing
Ceremony & Certificates Presentation
Assalamualaikum WBT.
Distinguished guests, participants of the MTCP/OIC,
Ladies and gentlemen.
On behalf of Malaysia Productivity Corporation, I extend a
warm welcome to all guests to this evening's function. It
gives me great pleasure to be here this afternoon for the
closing of the MTCP/OIC Programme on Promotion of
Organisational Excellence and Competitiveness for the
year 2009.
Over the last 4 years, MPC has been organising this
MTCP programme for OIC countries and to date, 100
participants have benefited from the programme. With
close co-operation from the Economic Planning Unit (EPU)
and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, MPC is proud to deliver
and to share Malaysian experiences to participants from
OIC member countries. This is a manifestation of
Malaysia's continued commitment to the members of OIC
countries. Sharing of experiences and assisting in
improvements using various management systems will
enable participants to achieve their higher capability and
competency in running businesses or organisations.
Under the MTCP/OIC banner, the networking created
through various training programmes and sharing of
experiences have in fact recorded some remarkable
achievements. In this context, MPC and surely Malaysia
are very happy to be part of these unique experiences and
expertise and knowledge sharing.
The successful completion of this programme is indeed
satisfactory to both MPC and the participants of the programme.
It marks the accomplishment of mandate and
responsibility accorded to us under the Malaysia's
Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP). I believe the
participants have benefitted a lot from the programme
especially on identification of best practices for
organisational excellence.
Best practices are important for us:
• To enable us to identify strengths, opportunities in
our respective organisation.
• To share experiences as well as exchange ideas
among us in implementing best practices.
• To develop benchmarking network and community
between the host country and the participating OIC
countries.
The best practices are critical and contribute towards the
development of a nation’s economic growth.
Ladies and gentlemen,
Finally, I wish to take this opportunity to congratulate all
the participants for successfully completing the
programme and I hope all participants have also been
able to witness the
Malaysian way of
life whilst attending
the programme. I
wish you all "bon
voyage" as you
proceed your
journey back to
your own country
and hope that you
have had a
memorable stay in
Malaysia. My very
best wishes to all
of you in your future endeavors.
With that, I have great pleasure in declaring the
programme on “Promotion of Organisational Excellence
and Competitiveness for OIC countries” officially
closed.
Thank you.
Mr. Mohd Razali Hussain, Director
General of MPC, Top Management
of MPC, the facilitators, secretariat
of MTCP and all other invited
guests.
I, Rashid Al Hinai and my other
colleagues and participants
welcome you to this closing
program on “Promotion of
Organisational Excellence and Competitiveness for OIC
countries” which took place from 2 nd to 13 th November 2009
at Grand Dorsett Subang hotel.
After thanking ALLAH for everything, we would like to take
this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to the
Government of Malaysia represented by MPC organisation.
We would also like to express our appreciation to all our
lecturers and MPC staff who had made our stay successful
either during the classes or outside the classes.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
We always believe that training and development add a
great value to both employee and employer, thus we came
from across the world to attend the course that we were
assured at the end we will gain that knowledge and
information which can help us to improve ourselves and our
organisation. Starting from the first time we reached the
airport to the end of the programme, we found all the hands
and hearts were opened for all which made our stay
fantastic to such extent that we did not feel that we were far
from our families until the moment we are going to depart
back to our countries carrying with us that great knowledge
and fantastic memories about the country that we believe
will soon be among the top developed countries.
We came, we saw, we learned and we acquired
knowledge to improve and impact on our organisations and
countries. I advise myself and my colleagues to use all that
we have learned from this course such as Benchmarking,
TQM, KPI, 5S, ICC, Innovation and all other tools and also
from the visits to improve our human resources and
organisation which will lead to a better life.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
With all modesty I have attended many international
training/courses but I must admit that this particular one is
the best in times of the lecturers, materials and the
participants - my colleagues. We learned and had fun; it
reminded us of our study life. At this juncture, I wish to
acknowledge that I was some time noisy and naughty so if
I have offended anyone please accept my apology but trust
me my heart is pure and I love all of you.
The Director General of MPC, ladies and gentlemen, as we
know if there is beginning there is always an end, but in
our case I would like to encourage my colleagues to keep
in touch with one another and with Malaysia for continuous
sharing of best practices, knowledge and benchmarking.
Last but not least we also
appreciate all those who
worked behind the scene
whose contribution cannot be
quantified but make the course
successful. We also thank all
the staff of this hotel especially
the General Manager who
made our stay unforgettable.
At the end we thank ALLAH for
his mercy upon us. I wish
everybody safe journey back
home.
Thank you.
personnel and employees of the Plants
where we visited as well.
Buran
The programme was
organised at a high
level and the most
memorable moments
were visiting
Putrajaya & Petronas
Twin Towers.
Mohamed
I’ll prepare a detailed report
about this programme to both
the training manager and HR
sector’s chief, with my
recommendations to apply
managerial concept. I’ve also
learnt a lot especially the 5S.
The visit to Alor Gajah,
Melaka, though a small
town and away from the
capital was very well
organised and developed.
Ahmed
The programme is good. It would be
great if the programme could be longer to
include more details on the TQM section.
I’ll make a report on how to apply
5S when I’m back.
I’ll make a report on how to apply 5S.
Rashid
Excellent, I am really so
happy to get this chance,
I gained a lot of new ideas.
When I go back to Oman
and office, I’ll deploy as
much as I can on 5S, TQM
and Innovation.
Ghinwa
A lot of P&Q tools and
concepts have been covered
within 2 weeks. Upon my
return, I will provide awareness
and training programmes
and later implement some of
the P&Q tools in various
organisations in Syria.
Armela
Learning the
quality journey in
the classroom and
plant visits while
enjoying the
pleasure of
participation in all
discussions.
Ravshan
I got a lot of new and useful
information such as 5S, KPI, P&Q
Success Factors and
e-Benchmarking. It was
conducted by very experienced
trainers.
Haritha
It was really nice and we
gained a lot of knowledge and
enjoyed the stay.
