WINFIELD SCOTT PARK<br />
Existing Setting<br />
<strong>The</strong> Winfield Park <strong>Sub</strong>-Area is located in the western portion of the Village along South<br />
Maywood Drive. <strong>The</strong> area is generally bounded by Madison Street on the north, 17th<br />
Avenue on the east, the Park and industrial uses on the south, and Village limits on the west.<br />
This area consists of the following land uses:<br />
Winfield Scott Park – A large park with a range of facilities including baseball diamonds,<br />
basketball courts, and playground equipment. This park is in good condition.<br />
17th Avenue/Madison Street Commercial Node– One block of mixed uses located at<br />
the 17th Avenue and Madison Street intersection. This area contains commercial uses and<br />
has been identified to remain as a neighborhood commercial node to serve the western<br />
portion of the Village. <strong>The</strong>se uses vary between retail and service and are in fair condition.<br />
Large Industrial Uses – Two large industrial uses are located in this area. <strong>The</strong>se uses have<br />
large sites and buildings and are in generally good condition. <strong>The</strong>se uses are anticipated to<br />
remain in this area. However, site improvements and some maintenance are needed,<br />
especially along the rear of the sites.<br />
Prairie Path – <strong>The</strong> Prairie Path travels through this sub-area. It is in fair to poor condition<br />
in this area and requires improvement.<br />
Village Fire Station – <strong>The</strong> second Village fire station is located on 17th Avenue, just east of<br />
Winfield Scott Park.<br />
