WINFIELD SCOTT PARK
Existing Setting
The Winfield Park Sub-Area is located in the western portion of the Village along South
Maywood Drive. The area is generally bounded by Madison Street on the north, 17th
Avenue on the east, the Park and industrial uses on the south, and Village limits on the west.
This area consists of the following land uses:
Winfield Scott Park – A large park with a range of facilities including baseball diamonds,
basketball courts, and playground equipment. This park is in good condition.
17th Avenue/Madison Street Commercial Node– One block of mixed uses located at
the 17th Avenue and Madison Street intersection. This area contains commercial uses and
has been identified to remain as a neighborhood commercial node to serve the western
portion of the Village. These uses vary between retail and service and are in fair condition.
Large Industrial Uses – Two large industrial uses are located in this area. These uses have
large sites and buildings and are in generally good condition. These uses are anticipated to
remain in this area. However, site improvements and some maintenance are needed,
especially along the rear of the sites.
Prairie Path – The Prairie Path travels through this sub-area. It is in fair to poor condition
in this area and requires improvement.
Village Fire Station – The second Village fire station is located on 17th Avenue, just east of
Winfield Scott Park.
