neti pot), sequences and variation on<br />

postures. Wear comfortable clothes<br />

and bring a yoga mat and strap,<br />

available at Target or Wal-Mart.<br />

Kettlebells - For Beginners<br />

YMCA Staff<br />

This class will get you in shape or help<br />

you stay in shape: a total transformation<br />

workout that will tone, sculpt, and<br />

change your body. The intent of a<br />

kettlebell is to increase strength,<br />

endurance, and agility while charging<br />

the cardiovascular and muscular systems<br />

by doing dynamic, functional<br />

movements. Each participant will need<br />

to bring their own kettlebell, which<br />

can be purchased in stores such as<br />

Target, Sportmart or Dick’s Sporting<br />

Goods. Kettlebells range from $25-$40<br />

each. It is recommended that<br />

participants start out with a kettlebell<br />

between 5-15 lbs. Park on the west<br />

side of the school off of 3 rd Avenue and<br />

enter Door N.<br />

vital information and practice with<br />

down-to-earth physical self-defense<br />

techniques, useful even if you have<br />

limited physical skill or ability. Don’t<br />

miss this very important class.<br />

Participants under 16 must be<br />

accompanied by a registered adult. Mary<br />

Brandl is a Fourth Degree Black Belt<br />

and instructor with the U of MN PE<br />

Department and works with numerous<br />

crime victims groups. Wear loose,<br />

comfortable clothing and footwear.<br />

run or cancel a class is made a week in advance, so register early! This could<br />

being canceled due to insufficient enrollment.<br />
