SLLA Meeting
(Continued from page 24)
Shaver. “A ten-year analysis of
costs of Maintenance per dues
member is 26 cents a day, and
35 cents with streets and
grounds.”
Shaver thanked the Maintenance
Department and the Maintenance
Committee for their outstanding
work. The Committee is
composed of members Mike
Cummins, Frank Horan, Jim
Ball, Norm ihrig, Jay Kenzel,
Andy Lowe, Jim Caudill, and
Frank Hayes.
“i am very proud of the Committee
and what Bob [Darr] and
Dalton have done with Maintenance,”
said Shaver.
Security
Roving Patrol’s monthly report
included a boat adrift, an
unlocked home, loose dogs, and
kids throwing eggs.
“The parents were notified,”
said Caulk.
in an ongoing effort to curb
vandalism, Caulk said timed
lights have been installed at all
community picnic shelters.
Welch expressed concern
regarding security vehicles seen
off-premises, in the Business
village.
Fulcher said the Roving Patrol
officers do not get a lunch hour
and are on-call their entire shift.
“They do go into the village to
get food – and they are also
sent to other places occasionally
as needed to make a deposit
for the office or to pick-up hardware
supplies.”
Recreation
The Recreation Committee
will be meeting with playground
equipment manufacturers, reported
Assistant Community Manager
Chad Beane.
“We are working closely with
the budget process,” said Beane.
upcoming events include the
St. Patrick’s Day Parade and
Little Miss Seven Lakes contest.
The parade will be held
Saturday, March 14 at 11:00 am.
The post-parade traditional
Corned Beef Luncheon is back
this year, by popular demand.
Clubs and organizations,
antique car and motorcycle owners,
Caulk reported two artificial
reefs were placed in Lake
Sequoia. Constructed with recycled
Christmas tree and cinder
blocks, the low cost reefs are
expected to attract fish at these
prime fishing locations.
Manager’s Report
Fulcher reported ninety-five
percent dues collections at the
end of December. He said this
was percentage was a little low
because of the economy and
the increased number of residents
on a scheduled payment
plan.
Regarding the proposed dues
increase, Fulcher said the
increase is specifically targeted
to capital items, not operations.
“Over the past twenty-five
years, the Association has operated
under the procedure of not
setting funds aside for depreciation
but budgeting $125,000
each year to cover capital needs.
using these funds, all fencing has
been replaced, both mail houses
were rebuilt, the gate houses
were rebuilt, the pool remodeled,
and vehicles purchased –
that method works except for
roads and dams.”
Seven Lakes Chapel in the Pines was founded in 1976
to serve the Seven Lakes Community and beyond.
Fulcher said Thomas Trucking
cleared Association roads
after last week’s snowstorm but
that the icy section of Seven
Lakes Drive, near the stables,
was a source of frustration
because it falls under State roads
maintenance.
“We have nothing to do with the
road along the stables. i wish we
did!” said Fulcher. “Every year that
we have snow or ice, at least two
or three vehicles go into our
fences.”
Fulcher said multiple calls for
assistance were placed but it
was two days before the road
was safely cleared.
Other Items
The Judicial Committee will
meet in January to consider
three violations.
A motion to amend Bylaw 6.6
to require a seventy-five percent
majority vote of the Board
to lift deed restrictions placed
on common areas, was deferred
pending review.
The Board unanimously
approved amending Bylaw
6.10.2.11, removing Personnel as
a Standing Committee. This
change allows the entire Board
to participate in the transition
process towards new management.
Connie Granato - Optician
20 Years Experience in the Sandhills
to begin studying the transition
process. “There is not going to be
a simple answer. Are we going
to keep running this community
as it has been or are we going
to do something different?” he
questioned.
The tow policy for vehicles left
at common areas was revised to
allow for a forty-eight hour grace
period, per Caulk’s recommendation.
vehicles blocking roads
or boat ramps, will be moved
immediately. All violators will be
tagged and vehicle owners will
be notified, as possible.
The Board unanimously
approved an amendment to the
Rules & Regulations requiring all
barcoded vehicles to also display
the standard SLLA windshield
sticker.
“We are trying to make sure
resident stickers stay on their
vehicles. This will make our area
more secure,” said Caulk.
Boat stickers were also under
discussion following a Lakes &
Dam Committee recommendation
to require 3” numbered
decals on both sides of all registered
power boats. The Board
approved the motion and
imposed a one-time sticker fee
of $5
