GEOS LANGUAGES PLUS
Language. Culture. Adventure.
2012 & 2013

Opening up a world of opportunities for over 30 years
Welcome to GEOS Languages Plus. With over 30 years of history and experience, GEOS Languages Plus has long
been a leader of language training in the world. Our commitment to academic quality and student services is what
differentiates us from our competitors. Every year we welcome over 8000 students of 100 different nationalities to our
schools. What do all these students have in common? They all leave our schools with vastly improved language skills,
new international friends, a deeper understanding of Western culture, broadened horizons, and more professional and
personal opportunities available to them. GEOS Languages Plus has 6 schools in Canada, 6 in the United States, 3 in
the United Kingdom, and 1 in Malta. We are part of a global network of 31 schools worldwide that offers courses in 8
different languages. All GEOS Languages Plus schools are located in the hearts of their cities, easily accessible by local
transportation and close to all the major historical and cultural sites. As a testament to our educational quality, GEOS
Languages Plus is accredited by educational organizations such as Languages Canada (Canada), ACCET (USA), the
British Council (UK), ALTO (Europe), WYSE (Europe), and FEYTOM (Malta). We have language courses for every level of
English or French and our language courses are structured around the widely-recognized Common European Framework
of Languages. With our selection of courses and locations, and our reputation for success, it is no wonder students choose
sports and watching movies can all be used as tools to teach students in a lively, interactive way.
GEOS Languages PLUS - Programs
Reach all your English or French language goals with our comprehensive
curriculum, communicative methodology, and experienced teachers.
We can accommodate both short-term programs and long-term studies, and students of all English/French levels. Using
the Common European Framework of Languages, GEOS Languages PLUS accurately places the student in an appropriate
class level via a placement test on the first day of school. All teachers on staff at our schools have university degrees and are
qualified to teach English or French as a second language. In Canada and the USA, GEOS Languages PLUS tests students
every Friday. In Europe, GEOS Languages PLUS gives students one major examination after every three-month semester.
The students go over their results and academic progress during a one-on-one counseling session with one of their
teachers. All GEOS Languages PLUS schools issue to students a certificate upon successful completion of their course.
Sample Curriculum
INTEGRATED SKILLS CLASS
In the Integrated Skills class, students learn the four skills - reading, writing, speaking, and listening - through a
“Communicative Language Teaching” methodology. Students learn new grammar patterns in the context of a conversation
or a real-life situation. GEOS Languages PLUS places emphasis on developing accuracy.
ACTIVE LISTENING CLASS
In the Active Listening class, students cover a variety of topics while practicing English conversation management, and
pronunciation. Students learn commonly-used idioms and slang in a communicative way. GEOS Languages PLUS
places emphasis on developing fluency.
ELECTIVE CLASS
GEOS Languages PLUS gives students a list of level-appropriate electives to select from. We offer a variety of courses
including TOEFL iBT Test Preparation, TOEIC Test Preparation, IELTS Test Preparation, Academic Writing, Business English,
Listening and Pronunciation, Communicative Grammar, Power Speaking, and others.
Exam Preparation Courses
There is a two-part approach to our Test Preparation Courses. First, we focus on improving the students’ English skills.
Students work on vocabulary building, critical listening and reading, essay writing, and speaking. Next, we focus on
building test-taking skills and strategies. In addition, students take mini-tests or mock-exams once a week, which is
a great way to build test-taking stamina and for GEOS Languages PLUS to monitor the students’ progress. Students
take 4-6 lessons per day from Monday to Friday. Students work with experienced teachers, and the most up-to-date,
effective textbooks and materials available.
GEOS Languages PLUS - Pathways Program
In our multinational society, people with an international university
degree and international experience have more career advancement
opportunities than their colleagues without such qualifications.
GEOS Languages PLUS has partnerships with a number of post-secondary institutions throughout the world.
These partnerships give students the opportunity to attend an international university or college upon completion
of their studies at a GEOS Languages PLUS school in Canada, USA, the United Kingdom, and Malta.
Why join our Pathways Program?
• Gain full or conditional admission to an international university or college
• Earn an international university or college degree
• Accumulate international experience and references for future employers
• Improve both your written and spoken English language skills
• Build new relationships and networks in-and-out of school
• Get a holistic view of Western academics and campus life in person
This is the first time I have ever said “Wow! I’m
proud of myself.” My graduation is just ahead, and I
am ready to transfer to a university. I now think back
to the beginning of my English study at GEOS. I started
from beginner class and finished in the advanced
class at the end. Through my English studies at GEOS,
I learned that the most important thing to do your
English is repetition. While I shared my daily event
in class every day, I suddenly noticed, “I know a lot of
vocabulary.”
Also my favorite class activity was the presentations.
Of course, everyone gets nervous the first time, but I
realized it is actually fun. A lot of experience in GEOS
gave me confidence.Therefore, I wasn’t worried
about anything when I started studying at El Camino
College.
Although I have learned so many things there as well,
GEOS is the most special for me.
There are five major advantages for students taking
the Pathways Program at our schools:
1 The majority of our post-secondary institutions in Canada and the USA have waived the application fee
and/or the need for an official TOEFL test score in lieu of the students’ successful completion of Level 6 in an
English Program in Canada and the USA.
2 For post-secondary institutions that have requested an official IELTS, Cambridge, or TOEFL score,
GEOS Languages PLUS thoroughly prepares students for these language exams so that they reach the
qualifications required for their degree.
3 Our Pathways partner schools can offer conditional letters of acceptance, allowing for easier acquisition
of student visas.
4 Students can study for a Bachelors degree, Masters degree, or a college diploma in a large variety of
programs including Tourism, Engineering, Marketing, Trade, Hospitality, Administration, and Business.
Victoria is definitely
perfect city for studying
English. You don’t have to
worry about entertainment
that disturb you from studying
English. I’ve learned many
things not only English but
also culture of Canada.
Whenever I’m exhausted or
not motivated, I’m encouraged
from counseling with GEOS
staff. [GEOS Victoria] helped me out to find job and make
my resume. The business course that I took for 2mth was
really helpful for my work experience. They can help students
even about personal problem like home-stay, visa issue.. etc
not only about English. I could learn many things [from my
work experience]… how to treat Canadian customer, what
Canadian culture is like… of course English too!! When I
started to work, I wasn’t able to understand what costumer
was ordering. That was most difficult part of my work. What
I tried to solve this problem was keep paying attention on
customer’s mouths and tried to figure out what they were
saying. You would face lots of things make you feel frustrated
when you experience work in Canada. But after you overcome
it, you would be stronger, and much more mature!!
options so that students will have the most memorable and enjoyable
stays possible.
HOMESTAY: Students can experience Western culture and practice their language skills by sharing a home with a
host family. Students generally stay in single rooms but double rooms may be available upon request. Students also have
the option of choosing full-board or half-board stays. A GEOS Languages PLUS staff member has personally visited
the houses of all our host families; and GEOS Languages PLUS’ host families live in safe, comfortable neighbourhoods
near the schools. In addition, students in GEOS Languages PLUS Montreal can choose between living with an English
or French-speaking host family.
RESIDENCES: All schools work with residences year-round. Some of our GEOS Languages PLUS schools have
beautiful on-site school residences where students can choose between Standard or Comfort Apartments, and/or single
or double rooms. For schools without on-site residences, GEOS Languages PLUS works with residences that are conveniently
located close to the schools on foot or by public transportation. Students can request single, double, or group
occupancy; and residences may provide breakfast or meal plans for an extra fee.
GUEST HOUSE – HOTEL: GEOS Languages PLUS Devon(Exmouth) offers a guesthouse that is 10 minutes away
from the school. This is the perfect option for students who prefer to have a little bit of distance between their school
life and personal life. Ensuite single or double rooms are available (double rooms can only be booked for two students
traveling together), and bed linen and towels are provided. GEOS Languages PLUS Devon’s guesthouse also provides
daily cleaning service and breakfast.
SHARED APARTMENTS: Sharing the same apartment with other international students is a great way for
students to learn about different cultures, practice their newly-learned language skills, and improve their communication.
GEOS Languages PLUS schools in Europe offer single or double rooms in privately-owned fully-equipped, fullyfurnished
apartments. Students can choose between Standard and Comfort Apartments, depending on their budget
and needs.
Standard Apartments – These apartments are ideal for the budget-orientated traveler. The apartments come with
fully-equipped kitchen and bathrooms, and basic furniture. They are located either on campus or just a few minutes from
the school. At some locations, students can book breakfast and meal plans for nominal fees.
Comfort Apartments – These apartments are generally larger with better furnishing and equipment. There is also
more frequent cleaning service (usually twice a week). These apartments are located on campus or very close to the
school. At some locations, students can book breakfast and meal plans for nominal fees.
PRIVATE APARTMENTS / STUDIOS: Private studios or apartments are perfect for students or families that
seek, or need, more privacy. GEOS Languages PLUS Malta provides on-site apartments while other GEOS Languages
PLUS schools can assist with the booking of an apartment close to the school. All apartments come fully furnished with
ensuite bathrooms and cooking facilities. Breakfast or other meals plans and cleaning services are available at some
locations for an additional cost.
ACTIVITIES:
GEOS Languages PLUS realizes that learning a language is more than just attending great classes. To effectively learn
a language, students must immerse themselves in both the cultural and social aspects of life in Canada, USA, the United
Kingdom, and Malta. To help students achieve a complete ̏language, culture, adventure˝ experience, GEOS Languages
PLUS offers after-school social activities for students. Whether students are taking part in walking or cycling tours of the
city, sampling famous local foods, or playing sports – they will always be practicing their language skills!
The types of extra-curricular activities available depend largely on the season and the location. GEOS Languages PLUS
releases a monthly activity calendar at the beginning of every month and students can expect at least 2 activities a week.
The majority of the activities are free but some activities may be enjoyed for a nominal price.
GEOS Languages PLUS - NEW YORK
EVERYONE
COMES TO NEW
YORK CITY
New York is known as ‘The Big Apple’ and is a major source of entertainment, finance,
and business around the world.
New York has long been immortalized in songs and movies for good reason. There’s literally something to do at
all hours of the day with places such as music lounges, fitness clubs, and diners opening 24 hours, 7 days a week.
From high-end designer goods on Fifth Ave to eclectic jewelry in Greenwich Village, from delicious Chinese food in
Chinatown to fancy steakhouses on the Upper East Side, and from indie acts in nightclubs to grand-scale concerts
by famous musicians, there’s a little something for every taste and every person. The City itself is a multi-cultural,
multi-ethnic melting pot of people and cultures from around the globe. Thus, it is very easy for students to make
friends, practice English, and learn about American culture while enjoying famous New York cuisine such as New
York pizza, cheesecake, and bagels. The Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Broadway, Central Park, New York Yankees,
MOMA, Metropolitan Museum of Art, SoHo, East Village, Fifth Ave – these are just a few of the many things and
places you can enjoy in the City. And, for those students who want to escape the sprawling metropolis, New York
also has several beaches and parks where students can just sit back and unwind. New York is truly the city that
never sleeps!
NEW YORK
Built in 1886, the school´s building has stunning views of Madison Square Park, the Flatiron District, and Midtown.
At the time, it was built in the wealthiest area of New York City. Designed by renowned architect Bruce Price, the
building is a striking combination of stone, brick, terra cotta, iron and copper in the Beaux Arts style with extensive
detailing inside and out. One of its original treasures - a lobby mural painted by the famous French decorating firm
of Arthur Brounet is maintained in its original glory. The school is located in the heart of Manhattan, 5 minutes on
foot from 28th Street and 23rd Street subway stations. It is also 5 minutes away from Madison Square Park.
Yes. Just 3 months. I saw a lot of people. They couldn’t speak English but after three months
they have a lot of methods for teach English. For example: Before lesson they explain to some
vocabulary about unit. When you learn these vocabulary, they are starting lesson. This method
is very important for memorize vocabulary. They aren’t teaching only in school. Sometimes they
are going to outside; for example Empire State, Statue of Liberty. GEOS has a lot of activities every
day. For example Monday: students are going to bowling with their teachers and they are enjoying and learning English.
Class; you have a lot of friend, classmate in GEOS and they are from different countries. They just speak English. Class is not
GEOS Languages PLUS - BOSTON
STEEPED New York IN
HISTORY AND
RICH IN CULTURE
Boston is the capital and the most populous city in the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts. It is known for its rich history and strong academics.
Founded in 1630, Boston is one of the oldest and most culturally significant cities in the United States. The city architecture
still reflects its historical roots – for example, near the GEOS campus downtown stands a modern skyscraper
next to a 300 year-old church. Millions of tourists come to Boston each year to learn about the American Revolution,
and visit cultural and historical landmarks such as Faneuil Hall, the Heritage Trail, and Quincy Market. The city was
the site of several ̏firsts˝, including the first public school and the first subway system in America. Boston’s prime
location on the North Atlantic and proximity to the coast means that residents can enjoy a variety of fresh seafood
every day. Local lobster and traditional clam chowder are not to be missed in particular. With over 100 colleges and
universities in the city alone, Boston is known as the `Athens of America´. The world’s top university, Harvard, is in
Boston, which cements this city’s reputation as being an intellectual center.
It is no wonder why Boston is often the first choice for students wishing to pursue language or post-secondary
education. In fact, close to half of Boston’s population is made up of students, making the city very student-friendly.
BOSTON
GEOS Boston is located in a historic building in the heart of Boston. It is near the Downtown Crossing, which is a
popular shopping district with large department stores, restaurants, souvenir shops, and many street vendors.
The school is minutes away from T-subway stations. It is also an easy walking distance from historical sites such as the
Old South Meeting House, King’s Chapel, Faneuil Hall, and two parks. Surrounded by restaurants and stores in the same
area, students at GEOS Boston have many places that they can go to for a quick meal or for after-school gatherings.
WHY GEOS?
First of all, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Mohammad and I have
been studying at GEOS for 10 months. Which is good enough to improve my skills on
the first day at GEOS, I could speak at all since that I realized that I need to practice
more and to study harder and that’s why I am improving every day, GEOS’s teachers
are very perfect and each day we see a news style of teaching which really help us to
understand more. Coffee talk for me is extremely important to have a chance to talk
to students that their English is better than u on the other hand, we must forget to
help students who is not as good as us,. Finally I would say: thank you “to all GEOS staff and to express my
love to GEOS and hopefully to work at GEOS someday!
during winter in the freezing city like Boston, but it turned out to be the most
enjoyable winter in my life. Warm welcome from the teachers and multicultural
students, made me feel really comfortable and facilitated me to learn
English quickly. GEOS has changed frustration into confidence. Thanks for the
greatest staff ever. And for all of my friends here, I will not forget you.
WHY GEOS?
The school was great! I learned more in a day then some weeks in school. The staff at school was
great. I loved my teacher. The location was fabulous. This experience was one of the best things that
ever happened to me! I used to not like that much responsibility, but this helped me bring out the best
and taught me how to use independence. I made incredible friends and learned a lot of English.
I ENJOYED EVERY MINUTE! At first I was homesick, but I then started to look around me and see the
beautiful city and regretted that I ever wanted to leave.
MIX OF HISTORIC
BEAUTY AND
MODERN CHARM
The popular song, ‘I Left my Heart in San Francisco’, says it best. With the diversity of
culture, people, and things to do, one can’t help but fall in love with the city.
San Francisco is without a doubt one of the most beautiful places in the United States. The city is a gorgeous blend
of historic Victorian architecture and modern buildings, and the cable cars only add to the city’s overall charm.
Renowned for its romantic fog, the weather in San Francisco is very comfortable. There is a laidback and breezy
atmosphere about the city that makes living in San Francisco so easy. The city is a hotspot for musicians and artists,
and there are a number of festivals throughout the year that celebrate the arts including the Midsummer Mozart
Festival, the San Francisco International Arts Festival, and the Film Festival.
San Francisco is also home to the largest and oldest Chinatown in North America. The neighbourhood is not only
culturally-significant and rich in history but it is very popular too – Chinatown draws more visitors to the area per
year than the Golden Gate Bridge! Students will love shopping in one of the many neighborhoods, biking across the
Golden Gate Bridge, and watching the sea lions at Fisherman’s Wharf.
Come to San Francisco and prepare to lose your heart to the city.
SAN FRANCISCO
WILL CAPTURE
YOUR HEART
WHY GEOS?
Hello, my name is Nicolas and I am from France. I like San Francisco because the people are
very friendly and very relaxed. And that is very good for my head and my heart. There were a lot
of artists here and it is good for my job because I am a tattoo artist. The creativity of the different
artists is really good for my imagination. I improved my English at GEOS because of the teachers.
They were very serious about teaching. The staff was very professional and serious about their
job. I liked that. I chose to study one-to-one but Ethan told me to try group class because of the
communication. I am glad I did this because I made a good connection with other students and
my speaking improved. In just one month I made many things in San Francisco. I visited different scenery, made a tattoo,
ate in a typical American restaurant and made new friends. I think I have so many memories in my head, it is possible for
me to write a book! In San Francisco it’s not possible to be bored.
Name of Student: Nicolas Name of Country: France
Hello, my name is Bilal and I am from Belgium. About GEOS, the teachers are very competent.
They have a real willing to do better. I will remember jokes during the class, with the teachers and
the students. I liked San Francisco because it is clean. I will miss the views, the beach, the Golden
Gate Bridge. There are a lot of things to do here. If I had to describe GEOS in one word, it would be
“productivity.” For me productivity is the staff asking the students if everything is OK, asking if you
want something else. There was a real willingness to help the students. I will miss the most my
GEOS friends and Asian food. My advice to other students is to come here for a long time. 4 weeks
was too short.
SOMETHING
FOR EVERYONE
WHY GEOS?
I have studied English in my own country, but come to Geos academy has been a really
different experience. First of all, here I have had the advantage to be in a completely English
environment, because I have native speakers teachers, the family in the homestay and all the
people that I know outside Geos, and this also make you improving your English because you
get use to thinking in English all the time. On the other hand the TOEFL course that I am taking is
great, because it has more emphasis in the skills than in specific grammar topics. For me this is
a big advantage, because I want to take the TOEFL and in this test they ask for skills but not for
specific grammar. You probably can have a good grammar but if you do not have the proper skills, you will not be able to
answer it, and that is why i think this course is great.
GEOS English School is like a big family. All the teachers are very friendly and concerned about
the well being of the students and offer support to solve problems. In class they agitate the students
to participate in the language lessons to strengthen their confidents in their ability to speak and
interact with other students. Also they like to interact with the students between the lessons and are
always up to shenanigans. The students are from all over the world so they are usually not able to
communicate in their native language and have to speak English to communicate with each other. All
the students are really friendly and you will make in a short time friends for a lifetime. After the students depart from GEOS they
stay in contact over social networks until long after their departure. As a student you usually participate in social events with
other students so you will not just improve your English in class but although in your free time.
UNIQUELY
BEAUTIFUL AND
CULTURALLY-RICH
WHY GEOS?
Since the English classes started, I felt so good in this school. The methodology is great.
Moreover, the teachers are fantastic because they will always create a dynamic ambience in which
you could feel comfortable and interested in the topics chosen. However, it is not all studying.
Amusement is also an important element of traveling and Montréal is an amazing city for it.
Furthermore, as one of most the multicultural cities of Canada, you can find people from all around
the world and make a lot of friends. This has been a terrific experience, coming here and leaving
summer in Peru is worthwhile. I have enjoyed every moment I have spent here. I want to thank all
the staff, the teachers and the people I have met, all of you have been so kind to me.
When I decided to study at GEOS Montréal, all I wanted to do was improve my language skills
and I didn’t expect anything else. Now I am glad that I chose this school because I could learn a lot
more than that. Not only could I meet many people from different countries and become friends here,
I also met great staff and teachers. When I first started to study French at GEOS, I had almost zero
knowledge of French. Now, thanks to my great teacher, I’m gradually getting able to say small things
in French. Of course, my English has been really improving as well. At the beginning, I didn’t have
confidence in my English and often stayed silent in a class. But my teacher tries to give each student
a chance to speak and doesn’t forget to give good points and weak points that I should work on in a
speech. That helped me to improve my speaking skills a lot. Now I know I speak much more, compared to the beginning, and
see the difference in myself. I really enjoy each class here and I would like to say thank you to my wonderful teachers who
make each class interesting and the staff who helps me and says hello every morning with a smile :)
Ottawa is the capital of Canada and the center of Canadian government. The site of numerous festivals, light shows,
natural treasures include beaches, parks, woodlands, rivers, and lakes. Of particular pride to the people of Ottawa
There are four very distinct seasons in Ottawa, and students can enjoy many seasonal activities such as Winterlude
WONDERFUL
WHY GEOS?
My name is Alvaro, I’m 18 years old and I’m from Spain. I’ve been in Ottawa twice, so as to
improve my English, and both times I chose GEOS as the place to brush it up at, since it’s much more
than a language school. Apart from learning, you get the chance to meet people from different
cultures all over the world, and you’re given the opportunity to do lots of wonderful activities
together. Besides, the teachers are great and they seem to be like friends, always there to help you
when you need them. Definitely, out of all the schools and academies I’ve studied at, GEOS is the
best one, with really entertaining classes that let you make the most out of every lesson.
When I was choosing a school for my English exchange in Canada from Brazil, I sent emails to
many schools, including GEOS. I remember GEOS was the first to answer me - quite quickly -, so I
thought it would be the perfect school for me, because if I needed any help in Canada, I’d receive it
from Geos. I was totally right. In GEOS Ottawa, I found the perfect place to improve my English skills.
I’ve been assisted any time I needed. I’ve also made friends for the rest of my life. The teachers in
the welfare of their foreigner students. That’s why I could feel home during my stay in Ottawa. The school also provides us the
best host family according to our wishes and personality, and I’ll be always thankful to GEOS to have chosen my host parents.
Ottawa will always be my home thank to GEOS.
YOUR DREAMS
WHY GEOS?
I am studying English, because I need the language for my future job in International Trade, in
Mexico. My first impression was that GEOS was a “comfortable” school; I made so many friends so quickly.
I decided to come to GEOS because think GEOS is the best option. First, GEOS has a good reputation. My
consulate said that GEOS was a very school. It was a choice between GEOS and another school, and I chose
GEOS. The pronunciation is very difficult for me, but I try and practice in my homestay with movies, so
that I can improve. My English has improved a lot. When I came here, my English was 10%; I only knew a
few words. Now I know more words, and more grammar. Study tip for GEOS student is try and try again,
because all students make many mistakes. Don’t worry, just try, try, and try.
very kind so I am having enjoyable homestay life. GEOS is very close to train station so it’s convenient to
commute to school. I think, the size of the school is suitable. Our classmates are all friendly. I think, I am
WHY GEOS?
It was the first time for me to go abroad, so I was very nervous about everything. However
I found out I was too anxious, because when I arrived at GEOS, all the teachers, staff, and
students were so friendly, kind and made me feel comfortable feelings. I love the teachers,
especially in the morning the teacher gave us 10 minutes writing assignment and then returned
the correct writing on the following day. In the afternoon class, we often studied together with
the other same class of the level; one of the debate activities was quite fun and exciting. It
was great practice to think and speak quickly in a limited time. Finally, thank you so much for
everything to teachers and staff. They always took care of my problems and answered me very
quickly. I really appreciate it! I wish I could stay longer.
I came to Victoria to study English. What surprised me about Victoria at first was
everyone is very welcoming to different nationalities and disabled people. Since I have
studied at GEOS, my speaking skills have been improving a lot. I had been afraid of speaking
in English before I came here, because I had never had any chance to talk to native speakers.
Now thanks to my teachers and friends, I am confident when speaking it. They always make
a comfortable atmosphere to talk in. Though it is simple words such as “actually” or “you
know”, I have never been taught them in school, so I had no idea how to use them. However,
those words are very functional and useful. I am really enjoying studying English at GEOS.
GEOS Languages PLUS - BRIGHTON
BRIGHTON IS A
CITY THAT HAS
GROWN OVER THE
CENTU RIES
At the end of the 18th century, the English seaside resort of Brighton was fortunate
enough to be chosen by the British Royal Family as its official summer residence.
Along with the Royal Family came the cream of English society, including the aristocracy and the so-called “moneyed”
classes. As a result, Brighton immediately became associated with glamour and sophistication, and even
today, Brighton is very much regarded to be a fashionable place. Whether it is for watching one of the many sporting
events held in the city, eating at one of its many re nowned restaurants, clubbing in what is one of Europe’s live liest
club scenes, or simply strolling along the pier or prome nade, Brighton in the 21st Century is as popular as ever.
The Royal Pavilion is a sight well worth seeing. It was built especially for the Prince Regent at the turn of the 18th
century. The Palace Pier isn’t just for taking a stroll, it has popcorn stands, fish-and-chips stalls, fortune tellers, an
excellent night club, amuse ment arcades and pubs. Brighton was originally a fishing village before it was colonized
by the royals and the aristo cracy. The fishermen lived in winding lanes, which have become known as `The Lanes’
today. Brighton offers cozy pubs, anti que shops, book shops and cafés at every corner. Brighton is a city that has
grown over the centu ries, it is still very young and a popular university city.
Our school in Brighton, which is accredited by the British Council, is located only a short walk away from our residence,
the town center and the beach. It is housed in an attractive Edwardian building with a good sized patio garden,
as well as, a spacious common room offering free internet access. Students need to be aged 16+ to participate
in adult programs.1 lesson = 45 minutes
The residence, a beautiful Victorian building, is situated across the road from the sea front, opposite the once famous
West Pier. All rooms have ensuite facilities, and many also have views of the sea. The residence also has a licensed
bar, club, 24-hour reception and a restaurant.
STUDENT TOWN
The East Devon Coast is considered one of the natural wonders of the world.
The ancient coastline invites the visitor to discover 185 million years of earth’s history. Exmouth, Devon’s oldest
seaside resort and the largest town in East Devon, is a lively British town located at the mouth of the renowned Exe
Estuary, which is abundant with bird life, brightly-coloured sailboats, and splendid panoramic views. The promenade
stretches along Exmouth’s golden sandy beach for over 2 miles. This leads to the start of the East Devon
coastline, a beautiful area that has been designated a World Heritage Site alongside the Great Barrier Reef and the
Grand Canyon. There are beautiful floral displays throughout Exmouth’s city center, making it an ideal place to relax
and shop. Exmouth also offers a variety of seaside attractions, renowned watersports facilities and friendly shopping
areas. Smaller side streets also are lovely to browse. When it comes to eating out, students are spoilt for choice as
Exmouth has a great range of restaurants, pubs and cafés. Exmouth is also a convenient base for exploring other
places of interest in the South West, such as the beautiful Roman City of Exeter, the Naval City of Plymouth (famous
for the National Marine Aquarium), and the departure site of the Pilgrim Fathers.
Our school is located in the heart of the Victorian seaside resort, Exmouth. If you prefer a friendly and familiar
environment in which to study then our small class sizes and emphasis on the individual make Exmouth perfect.
Students often comment on the happy atmosphere created by our dedicated and experienced staff and many students
return year after year. Situated in Exmouth´s town square, our school is within easy reach of all local facilities
GEOS Languages PLUS - Malta
THE MOST
BEAUTIFUL
SCHOOL IN MALTA
Thinking of learning English properly while enjoying a Medi ter ra nean climate? Look no
further than the very South of Europe!
The Island of Malta is situated between Sicily and the coast of North Africa. The sun shines the whole year round on
its North African-like landscape. Malta has a diverse culture and has played a greater role in history and international
politics than most other islands on earth. The Phoenicians, the Romans, the French and the British have all come and
gone. Now it’s your turn! However, what makes Malta so interesting for a language course is the legacy left behind by
the British. Just as in all Britain`s other former colonies, the judicial system and British administration have remai ned
in place. English is the first official and cultural language. The educational system is very British. Indeed the Maltese
language schools are greatly respected throughout Europe. The Maltese mentality is Mediterranean. They drive on
the left (like in Britain) and they insist on having a siesta (like in Italy and Spain). The Maltese are tolerant, openminded,
interested in other cultures, and fun-loving. The school is located in a quiet part of St. Julian’s Bay, yet close
to Paceville, the center of Maltese nightlife.
The school is simply breathtaking. It is of unique architectural interest and was built at the beginning of the century.
This striking, aesthetically pleasing stone building with its classical Greek-like elements and Roman arcades will not
fail to impress you. Our campus, comprising of class rooms, apartments, restaurants, gardens, swimming pool, and
beach volleyball court, is the perfect place to study and relax. The sun shines practically all year-round, making it an
outdoor experience when it comes to spacing relaxa tion and leisure.
your accommodation will be sent after you have settled the remaining balance. The invoice must be paid in full
four weeks before arrival.
2. Rebooking: Changing a booking (e.g. arrival date, accommodation, etc.) up to 31 days before departure we
will incur a fee of $ 75. We will do our utmost, but cannot guarantee the fulfilment of the request made since
extra costs may incur. In that case, the rebooking charge may exceed $ 75.
refunded. The minimum number of participants for exam preparation courses is 4 students.
4. Visa: In order to provide the letter of acceptance required by the embassy for issuing a visa, 40 % of the total
amount should be paid together with an additional charge of $ 120/ 80 € / 60 GBP or equivalent (+ shipping fee).
In the case of visa refusal, a full refund minus the additional, nonrefundable charge of $ 120/ 80 € / 60 GBP can
only be made if the student provides the letter of refusal issued by the embassy at least 14 days before departure.
After this date we will consider the participation of the student as confirmed and normal cancellation/rebooking
fees will apply.
In case the visa has not yet been issued 15 days before departure, we strongly recommend postponing the course.
In this case, the first rebooking fee will not be charged (evidence of visa refusal is required).
3. Cancellation: You may cancel your enrolment at any time prior to the commencement of your course.
In the USA we will refund all funds, save for any non-refundable fees.
In all other locations, the following cancellation fees will apply.
- Cancellation up to 30 days before course commencement:10 % of total fees, max. $ 225, whichever is less
- Cancellation between 15 to 29 days before course commencement :25 % of total fees or $ 450, whichever is less
- Cancellation between 1 to 14 days before course commencement: 50 % of total fees or $ 900, whichever is less
Thereafter, 90 % of the total fee is required or $ 1500 whichever is less. If you should cancel/withdraw after the
commencement of your course, please consult the school for its refund policies. If you prefer, you have the option
of purchasing cancellation insurance. This is 2% of the total amount (with a minimum purchase of $ 75).
The insurance fee must be settled at the time of registration and will only apply if you cancel prior to departure
due to health reasons (a written confirmation from the relevant doctor is required as proof).
In the unlikely event the school won’t be able to create a group course due it not having enough students at the
same time/level, smaller group or Private Tutorials for a reduced amount of lessons will be provided instead (20
lessons = 12 lessons / 30 lessons = 18 lessons).
Under the rare circumstances of our being forced to cancel, all fees paid for GEOS Languages PLUS services will be
5. Acceptable forms of payment:
- By credit card: Upon your notification, the appropriate form will be sent. It will need to be completed with the
name of the credit card company, card number, expiry date and signature. An additional 2 % credit card fee will
be charged.
6. Insurance: Neither agent, operator, nor the school will be held responsible in any way for any accident,
illness, loss of personal effects or change in personal circumstances arising at any time prior to, or during, the
course. We therefore strongly recommend our personal travel insurance (incl. Health, Third-party, Accident and
country which they are visiting.
