GEOS Languages PLUS - OTTAWA
OTTAWA IS
MAJESTIC
AND REGAL
Ottawa is one of the world’s most beautiful capital cities. Its charm and convenient size
make it a wonderful place to live and study.
Ottawa is the capital of Canada and the center of Canadian government. The site of numerous festivals, light shows,
tours, and of course, Royal Canadian Mounted Police parades, Ottawa has something everyone should see. Ottawa’s
natural treasures include beaches, parks, woodlands, rivers, and lakes. Of particular pride to the people of Ottawa
is the Rideau Canal, which offers a unique experience to visitors regardless of the season. 7.8 kilometers long, in
winter it is the world’s largest ice-skating rink; and in summer it provides a perfect sightseeing route for recreational
boating. The queen of England chose Ottawa as the capital of Canada for its strategic location. Thus, it is very easy
for students to organize trips to Montréal, Toronto, and Niagara Falls.
There are four very distinct seasons in Ottawa, and students can enjoy many seasonal activities such as Winterlude
in winter; the Tulip Festival in spring; and the best Canada Day celebrations in summer. Being the capital as well,
Ottawa is home to Canada’s national museums and heritage sites. There is no shortage of things to do and love in
this stately city.
