GEOS Languages PLUS - TORONTO
AN EXCITING AND
MODERN CITY
With a population of over five million, Toronto is one of the most multicultural cities in
the world. In fact, almost 40% of the population is comprised of visible minorities.
It is one of the safest and cleanest cities in North America and its friendly people are world-renowned. With four
definite seasons, Toronto is a city of temperature extremes and cultural diversity. Toronto is also home to a number
of established universities and colleges, including the largest university in Canada, the University of Toronto.
This, combined with rich ethnic diversity, means that Toronto offers truly dynamic night-life and boasts a tempting
array of restaurants. Students will have countless opportunities to explore the various ethnic communities, neighborhoods,
and areas of interest within Toronto and nearby. Recommended places to visit include the Downtown
Core, museums, art galleries, the CN Tower, Ontario Place, Harbourfront, and Casa Loma. Depending on the season,
weekend excursions include a canoe trip to the heart of Algonquin Provincial Park, a bus trip to the Canadian side of
Niagara Falls, skiing at Blue Mountain or a weekend trip to Ottawa.
Toronto is also host to over 30 film festivals a year and other international cultural-events so students will have lots
to do when classes are over for the day.
