Q: With a lot of your training at the [Springfield] Art Association and
so forth you said live models were used. Were they . . .
A: Not at the [Springfield] Art Association, we never had any models at
all. We had nothing but still lifes.
Q: At the Art Institute in Chicago?
A: Oh, at the Art Institute, yes. Well, most all the schools have a
great many--they always have a class in nudes. They do now out at Sangamon
State, ~ ' m sure.
Q: Yes. I think they do at the [Springfield] Art Association now, too,
from what I understand.
A: Yes, yes.
Q: Did you ever have a problem of conflict between a choice of marriage
or a career?
A: No.
Q: Did you ever feel that you've been discriminated against because you
were a woman?
A: No,
Q: Treated differently or didn't get what you should have gotten or
anything like that?
A: No, I guess because I was too busy and I enjoyed what I was doing so
much I never thought of it.
Q: Did you think that you had any special problems that a man might not
have had?
A: No.
Q: All right. Now your home here you told me is eight years old and I
was told that you have a collection here, an art collection?
A: Yes, I have a beautiful collection of prints and I have a wonderful
collection of books,
Q: Now, are your prints up and around or [do] you have them in a special
room?
A: No, I don't put them around. I just take one out at a time and look
at it. I don't believe in having so much around. That's a print there.
Q: Oh, I see.
A: That's a silk screen of Sister Mary
