5. Hose testers
Fire hose is subject to deterioration after use
on fires and prolonged storage (subject to the
elements of nature). A high-pressure test
pump is essential for acceptance and service
testing of all fire hose to assure compliance
with specification, determine serviceability,
permit discarding or repair of defective
material, and for testing the adequacy of
recoupling jobs. Standard equipment usually
includes a pump, suction connection, hose
connection(s), pressure gauge, bypass and
pressure-regulating valves, and may be hand
operated or engine driven. Specific features
