Purpose: To allow students to acquire more advanced skills<br />

Advanced Arabic - ARB2704<br />

Purpose: Students will learn more about stylistic techniques<br />

Purpose: This module equips students with a firm<br />
understanding <strong>of</strong> Arabic grammar, philology, stylistics and<br />
semantics; insights into the linguistic development <strong>of</strong> Standard<br />
Arabic, as well as the emergence and features <strong>of</strong> diaglossia;<br />
and the capacity to determine the position <strong>of</strong> Arabic on a map<br />
<strong>of</strong> regional and global languages.<br />
Qur’Ranic Translation and Commentary - ARB4802<br />

Purpose: This module equips students with a firm<br />
understanding <strong>of</strong> the Qur’anic text; insights into the<br />
understanding <strong>of</strong> Qur’anic commentaries; the ability to read<br />

centuries; and to further comprehend the texts.<br />
Further Specialist Arabic Literary Texts - ARB4803<br />

Purpose: This module equips students with a strong<br />
understanding <strong>of</strong> select Arabic classical, modern and<br />
contemporary pr<strong>of</strong>essional texts; insights into the linguistic<br />
development <strong>of</strong> select Arabic texts, from the seventh to the<br />
nineteenth centuries in prose, poetry and rhythmic prose; and<br />
selected contemporary texts that allow students to master<br />
discourse in fields like classical Islam, diplomacy, politics, law,<br />
trade, industry, technology, sport, fashion and economics.<br />
