Installing HP Distributed Print Service
Prerequisites for HPDPS Installation
Prerequisites for HPDPS Installation
A list of prerequisites follows:
• HP-UX 10.20 or a subsequent release must be installed on each
HP-UX system that will contain a client or server.
• HPDPS uses two entries that must exist in the service name
database, /etc/services.These are:
pdclientd 6874/tcp
pdeventd 6875/tcp
If you are upgrading from a pre-10.20 system, you must manually add
the above entries. If, however, your system was cold installed at 10.20
or for a subsequent release, these entries will have been added
automatically.
If your system is using NIS or NIS+, make sure the above entries
exist in the NIS or NIS+ servers’ service name database.
• If HPDPS is to be executed in the DCE Extended Environment, the
following DCE servers must be installed and running within the DCE
cell that will contain the host running HPDPS clients or servers:
— HP-UX DCE Security Server
— HP-UX DCE Cell Directory Server
