The deal originated because the investor believes Alelion has the potential to develop technologies into products that can be used and sold by IKEA. Alelion’s shareholders will actively work with the management team in developing its products. IKEA GreenTech believes that the company’s products can be used for alternative energy solutions and lighting. Fouriertransform AB provided SEK 28m for the company earlier in the year. Company Nödinge-based Alelion was founded in 2006 and employs approximately 20 staff. The company produces energy storage systems based on lithium-ion batteries and has been especially active in the automotive industry. People Christian Ehrenborg is the CEO of IKEA GreenTech AB. Entreprenörsfonden leads Bioscience funding Transaction Första Entreprenörsfonden has led a SEK 2m investment for Swedish lead generation company Sprint Bioscience AB, alongside ALMI Invest. The funding was split equally between the investors but Första Entreprenörsfonden sourced and structured the deal. Entreprenörsfonden does not typically invest in these types of early-stage deals. However, since the business specialises in an area where a turnover can be made from an early stage, it was an attractive deal for the investor. EXPANSION Sprint Bioscience SEK 2m Location Stockholm Sector Biotechnology Founded 2009 Staff 5 The investors decided to provide funding because of positive reports from Sprint’s customers. The management’s experience of the healthcare sector was also said to be attractive. Funding will support an increase in the number of researchers at the company and the customer base. Equity from ALMI is provided by the ALMI Invest Stockholm fund. Company Sprint Bioscience offers a fragment-based drug discovery platform to generate lead compounds faster and at a lower cost compared to traditional high-throughput screening methods. The company offers outsourcing services, as well as its own patented molecules. Based in Stockholm, the company was founded in 2009 and employs five people. People Rune Nordlander worked on the deal for Första Entreprenörsfonden and will take the role of chairman on the company’s board of directors. Anna Söderholm is investment manager for ALMI Invest. ALMI Invest et al. support Liveside Event Transaction ALMI Invest, business angel Fredrik Hultkrantz and existing owners have invested in Swedish supplier to the events industry Liveside Event AB.
