IKEA GreenTech invests €2m in Alelion
Transaction
IKEA GreenTech AB has invested €2m in energy storage device developer Alelion Batteries AB. The
deal originated because the investor believes Alelion has the potential to develop technologies into
products that can be used and sold by IKEA. The investor is looking to provide funding for companies
that have the potential to help IKEA’s customers to a more sustainable life at home.
Alelion’s shareholders will actively work with the management team in developing its products. IKEA
GreenTech believes that the company’s products can be used for alternative energy solutions and
lighting. Fouriertransform AB provided SEK 28m for the company earlier in the year.
Company
Nödinge-based Alelion was founded in 2006 and employs approximately 20 staff. The company
produces energy storage systems based on lithium-ion batteries and has been especially active in the
automotive industry.
