Recent Important Observations in MSS:<br />

• L-band about to be saturated with MSS traffic<br />

• Higher MSS traffic volumes <strong>for</strong>eseen in the future<br />

• MSS Traffic more packet data oriented – Internet Protocol (IP)<br />

• MSS traffic tends to be highly asymmetrical<br />

• Services requiring significantly higher capacity on the satellite link<br />

become more common and significant<br />

Consequences:<br />

• Significantly more spectrum is required in the future – L-band too<br />

restricted <strong>for</strong> future growth<br />

• Must utilise C-band, K u -band, and K a -band to support future growth in<br />

MSS
