When you are nervous it
can be hard remembering
names. Calling someone
the wrong name is getting
off on the wrong foot.
You can prepare for the
different questions they
will ask; the Human
Resources person will
have a different
perspective from the
technical expert.
The Process:
Do you know if there are
other tasks to be given to
you or is the interview
the sole means of
assessment?
It pays to be prepared
mentally for any
psychometric testing.
STUDENTS
At the interview they will
probably outline the next
steps so it is premature
to ask before the
interview.
Documents:
Decide what to take with
you and how you will
carry them:
• CV and Cover letter.
• Original copy of
academic transcript
• Copy of awards,
references.
• Questions you want to
ask.
The Location:
Where exactly is the
interview to be held?
Get clear instructions
and write these down.
Plan how you will get
there, and allow for
traffic delays. Have
contact phone number
for emergencies. Being
late is not a good look
and creates the lasting
kind of impression very
hard to recover.
Have a good night’s
sleep
Having done your
preparation, you can
spend the night prior to
the interview not
cramming your head with
information but treating
yourself to a decent
dinner and an early
night.
