Unplanned returns to the operating theatre within the same
admission is one of the key standard clinical performance
indicators required by the Care Quality Commission.
There is a very low rate of unplanned returns to theatre
within HCA hospitals, despite the fact that we undertake
complex cardiac, cancer, paediatric and high dependency
care. This is a reflection of the quality of our surgical teams
and facilities such as intensive care units at all hospitals.
