Opening Day Details
ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS
• Classes begin at 9:00 a.m. or at regular opening times. French Immersion Classes in Sault Ste. Marie begin at 9:25 a.m.
• Junior and Senior Kindergarten students will begin as instructed by the school. Parents of kindergarten students not yet
registered should contact the public school in their neighbourhood or call 705-945-7235 to find out which school their child
should attend.
• Most school offices are will be open from August 31. Call the school ahead for specific dates and times.
• New students may register prior to school opening on above dates. Updated immunization records, health card number, birth
certificate and copy of report card from previous school attended (if applicable), are required.
SECONDARY SCHOOLS
• Most Secondary School offices will be open from August 29 th . Please call ahead to confirm.
• New students may register prior to school opening after August 29 th . Updated immunization records, health card number, birth
certificate and copy of credit counselling from previous school are required

ALGOMA EDUCATION CONNECTIONS – SAULT STE. MARIE ALTERNATIVE PROGRAMS
Students may register in any of the alternative programs listed below from August 29 th until September 2nd from 10 a.m. to 2:00
p.m. Appointments should be made by calling 705-945-7194. Students will need a credit counselling summary, a birth certificate
and a health card to register. Please call ahead to ensure that a staff member is available or visit Prince Charles and meet with the
Principal of the program.

ALEXANDER HENRY HIGH SCHOOL 705-945-7179
All students, including Grade 9, will meet in the Cafeteria at 8:53 am. Student names and their homerooms will be posted at the
back of the cafeteria. Students will follow a shortened schedule with dismissal at 11:15 am. Busses will arrive at the regular time
(3:00 pm). New students may register from August 29 th until Sept 2nd from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm.
Returning Students will owe Student Activity Fee $5.00 and if they didn't hand in their lock they will owe an additional $5.00.
New students will owe $5.00 for Student Activity Fee and $5.00 for Lock

CENTRAL ALGOMA SECONDARY SCHOOL 705-782-6263
GRADE 9s: All Grade 9 students will attend on Wednesday, August 31 for their Orientation from 8:30 to 11:30 am. Parents are
asked to please drop-off and pick-up their students at the respective elementary schools at the following times:
• Bus #1 –Leaves Thessalon Elementary at 8:00 am and Arthur Henderson at 8:20 am. Departs from CASS at 11:30am, stops at
Arthur Henderson at 11:45am, arrives at Thessalon by 12:00 pm.
• Bus #2 –Leaves St. Joseph Island Elementary at 8:00 am and Johnson Elementary at 8:20 am. Departs from CASS at 11:30 am,
stops at Johnson Elementary at 11:40 am, Kent’s Corner at 11:55 am, arrives at St. Joseph Island Public School by 12:05 pm.
• Bus #3 –Leaves Echo Bay Elementary at 8:00 am and Laird Elementary at 8:20 am. Departs from CASS at 11:30 am, stops at
Laird at 11:50 am, arrives at Echo Bay at 12:00 pm.
GRADES 10 to 12: All Grade 10 to 12 students will report to homeroom at 8:45am on Tuesday, September 6. Classes will
follow a shortened schedule with buses leaving at 12:00 noon.
New students: Register between August 30 and September 1 between 8:00 am and 1:00 pm.

Student Activity Fee: Grade 9s - $15.00 including locks, Grade 10s to 12s - $10.00 with lock.
CHAPLEAU HIGH SCHOOL 705-864-1452
School begins with an assembly at 9:00 a.m. for all students on Tuesday, Sept. 6th. Dismissal is at 12:00 noon. Buses will
depart from the school at 12:20 pm. New students may register Aug. 29 th to Sept. 2nd. Appointments may be made starting
Aug. 29 th by calling 705-864-1452. Locks $5.00
ELLIOT LAKE SECONDARY SCHOOL 705-848-7162
Students who have pre-registered including all returning students and students entering grade 9 from an ELSS feeder school will
pick up their timetables on September 1 st during the following times: 9:00 am to 11:00 am; 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm; and 6:30 pm to
7:30 pm. Any student who is new to the area should call the school during the week of August 29 th to September 2 nd to make an
appointment. The first day of classes is Tuesday, September 6th from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm for students in grades 10 through
12. Grade 9 students will participate in orientation until 3:00 pm and begin their day at 10:00 am with all other students.

KORAH COLLEGIATE AND VOCATIONAL SCHOOL 705-945-7180
Grade 9 students assemble in the auditorium at 9:00 am. Grade 9 BBQ begins at 11:20 am. Grade 10-12 students report to
home rooms at 10:00 am followed by shortened periods and dismissal at 12:30 pm. New students may register from Monday,
August 29 th to Friday, September 2 nd , 2011 by appointment. Student Activity Fee - $10.00, Locks - $5.00.
MICHIPICOTEN HIGH SCHOOL 856-4464
Students in Grade 9 will assemble at 9:00 a.m. in the auditorium on Tues. Sept. 6 th . Grade 10-12 student’s assembly will be held
at 10:00am in the auditorium. New students may register from Aug. 29 th . Please note: White River students’ buses bring students
to school for 8:40 am, with departure at 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 6 th . Full classes start on Wed. Sept. 7 th . Student activity fee: Grade
9’s need to bring $5.00 to purchase a lock, all new students will also need to bring $5.00 for a lock.
SUPERIOR HEIGHTS COLLEGIATE AND VOCATIONAL SCHOOL 705-945-7177
Grades 7, 8, 9 Orientation – Thursday, September 1, 9:00 a.m – 11:30 a.m. New grade 7’s, 8’s, 9’s, are welcome and
Community Education students are welcome from 10:30 to 11:30am! All students are to attend on Tuesday, September 6 th ;
Grade 9 and 10’s from 9 am to 11:00 am, and Grade 11 and 12’s from 12:30 to 2:30 pm. Student names and homerooms will be
posted outside the cafeteria in the main forum. Buses run only in the morning and at 3 pm. Grades 7 and 8 have classes from
9:00 – 3:00 pm.
New students may register from Aug. 31 st to September 2nd by appointment, 9:00 am – 2:00 pm.

WHITE PINES COLLEGIATE AND VOCATIONAL SCHOOL 705-945-7181
White Pines grades 7, 8, 9 “Wolverine Meet and Greet” will be held on Thursday September 1, 2011 from 10:00 am until
12:00 in the school foyer. All grade 7, 8, 9 students are invited to attend and should bring $30.00 to purchase a student kit
which will include a lock, your student activity fee, and spirit wear (optional). All students are encouraged to reserve their award
winning, nationally recognized full colour 2011 - 2012 White Pines Yearbook - The Sceptre for an additional $50. Lunch will be
provided. RSVP by August 26 th by calling the school at 705.945.7181 or email delorem@email.adsb.on.ca. Our newsletter will
