Club of <strong>the</strong> Year -Hawkes Bay Multisports Club<br />
The Hawkes Bay Multisport Club continues <strong>to</strong> achieve<br />
great things.<br />
• The Club has received <strong>the</strong> Hawkes Bay “Club Operation<br />
of <strong>the</strong> Year’ Award for <strong>the</strong> third year in a row.<br />
• It has a strong Volunteer base supporting not only<br />
HBMSC but Tri NZ and <strong>the</strong> ITU.<br />
• One great example of <strong>the</strong>ir growing influence is <strong>the</strong><br />
recent establishment of a <strong>Triathlon</strong> Youth Academy for<br />
under 23 potential sub-elite/elite triathletes.<br />
• The club currently organises 26 which includes a<br />
wide range of events and distances for all types of<br />
participants<br />
• They have a 97% satisfaction rating from member<br />
satisfaction survey<br />
Performance of <strong>the</strong> Year - Miriam Jenkins<br />
Each year in amongst <strong>the</strong> hundreds of great performances,<br />
World titles, incredible achievements and one off vic<strong>to</strong>ries,<br />
<strong>the</strong>re is one that best sums up <strong>the</strong> sport of triathlon and<br />
<strong>the</strong> commitment of those who take part. Miriam Jenkins is<br />
all of that thanks <strong>to</strong> her gold medal winning performance<br />
at <strong>the</strong> Gold Coast World Champs.<br />
• Miriam Jenkins represented Tri NZ at <strong>the</strong> Paratriathlon<br />
World Championships on <strong>the</strong> Gold Coast, winning gold.<br />
• Miriam’s achievement helped contribute <strong>to</strong> a great team<br />
culture and atmosphere on <strong>the</strong> Gold Coast and inspired<br />
o<strong>the</strong>r team members <strong>to</strong> push <strong>the</strong> boundaries and <strong>to</strong><br />
challenge what is possible.<br />
• Miriam’s achievement helps <strong>Triathlon</strong> <strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong>, and<br />
<strong>the</strong> sport as a whole, as it continues <strong>to</strong> grow <strong>the</strong> sport<br />
for all <strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong>ers.<br />
• Miriam was also nominated for a Halberg Award in 2009.<br />
