• Question (Ken O’Rourke) – How can we ensure<br />

television like <strong>the</strong>re was at Takapuna? Dave Beeche<br />

answered with <strong>the</strong> ‘lap out’ rule<br />

• Question (John Hellemans) – Are Age-group races<br />

going <strong>to</strong> be draft legal? Non-drafting was <strong>the</strong> overall<br />

feel from those present<br />

• Contact Duathlon Series – we didn’t get <strong>the</strong><br />

participation numbers we were hoping for, so Tri NZ<br />

will be re<strong>view</strong>ing <strong>the</strong> series. Tri NZ <strong>to</strong> contact Clubs<br />

when this re<strong>view</strong> is underway.<br />

• Tri TV – Audience of 1 million<br />

• World <strong>Triathlon</strong> Festival – No specta<strong>to</strong>r or<br />

participation growth. Tri NZ will be re<strong>view</strong>ing this<br />

event; it will not be run in <strong>the</strong> current structure. We<br />

appreciate that we need an international event in NZ<br />

• National Schools – Good growth in participation<br />

numbers. The first time this event made <strong>the</strong> TV <strong>New</strong>s<br />

• Question (Ken O’Rourke) – Is <strong>the</strong>re any chance of<br />

changing <strong>the</strong> venue? For example; alternating North<br />

and South Island? The current venue is ideal, but<br />

Dave has noted <strong>the</strong> idea.<br />

• Over<strong>view</strong> of Performance:<br />

• Beijing – Congratulations <strong>to</strong> Debbie Tanner, Andrea<br />

Hewitt for <strong>to</strong>p 10 placings and Bevan Docherty for his<br />

Bronze medal<br />

• Dave acknowledged Stephen Farrell’s work for Beijing<br />

• Welcome <strong>to</strong> Greg Fraine, Tri NZ National Coach<br />

• Organisation Capability:<br />

• Question (Ken O’Rourke) – Why has <strong>the</strong> Youth<br />

Development funding dropped from 51% <strong>to</strong> 15%?<br />

Has Youth<strong>to</strong>wn pulled out? Dave advised that<br />

Youth<strong>to</strong>wn had not pulled out. Weet-bix has pulled<br />

out and SMC now control <strong>the</strong> marketing.<br />

• Question (Murray Mat<strong>the</strong>ws) – Did we lose <strong>the</strong> tender<br />

for <strong>the</strong> Kiwi Kids (Weet-bix) contract? Dave advised<br />

that we did not tender due <strong>to</strong> lack of resource at <strong>the</strong><br />

time. Dave will be meeting with SMC next week and<br />

will be in contact with Murray<br />

• Question (Murray Mat<strong>the</strong>ws) – Do we intend <strong>to</strong> see<br />

<strong>the</strong> same level of reliance of Trust Funding, or will we<br />

reduce <strong>the</strong> reliance? Dave advised that Trust Funding<br />

will always be a part of our funding.<br />

• Dave thanked <strong>the</strong> Board for <strong>the</strong> huge amount of<br />

voluntary time <strong>the</strong>y put in<strong>to</strong> Tri NZ<br />

• Dave thanked <strong>the</strong> Staff at Tri NZ<br />
