From north <strong>to</strong> south, the<br />
Vaucluse <strong>of</strong>fers an array<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>outdoor</strong> leisure <strong>activities</strong>.<br />
In this wonderful<br />
countryside, you can<br />
pursue at your own pace,<br />
whatever pastime appeals<br />
<strong>to</strong> you. On foot, by<br />
horseback, on water or<br />
land or even in the air,<br />
there is an activity for<br />
every taste.<br />
Hiking<br />
For those who enjoy<br />
walking, there are nearly<br />
3000 kilometres <strong>of</strong><br />
marked footpaths and<br />
hiking trails. And for the<br />
equestrian, 700 kilometres<br />
<strong>of</strong> bridle paths.<br />
Rock climbing<br />
and spelunking<br />
The Vaucluse boasts<br />
several world class sites<br />
for the pursuit <strong>of</strong> these<br />
sports. The mountains<br />
<strong>of</strong> the Dentelles de<br />
Montmirail are excellent<br />
for rock climbing; the<br />
karst <strong>of</strong> the Vaucluse<br />
ideal for potholers.<br />
Cycling<br />
The region is a veritable<br />
haven for cyclists.<br />
Between discovering the<br />
vineyards <strong>of</strong> the Côtes<br />
du Rhône, the lavender<br />
fields, the “perched”<br />
hill<strong>to</strong>p villages, and the<br />
Roman ruins, cyclists are<br />
spoilt for choice in the<br />
Vaucluse.<br />
Gliding<br />
For those who prefer <strong>to</strong><br />
take <strong>to</strong> the sky, there are<br />
six gliding clubs in the<br />
Vaucluse <strong>of</strong>fering <strong>to</strong><br />
transport them <strong>to</strong><br />
seventh heaven.<br />
Canoe and<br />
kayak<br />
There are at least fifty<br />
kilometres <strong>of</strong> river<br />
perfect for canoeing and<br />
kayaking in the Vaucluse.<br />
Regional Outdoor<br />
Activity Centres<br />
There are two <strong>outdoor</strong><br />
activity centres in the<br />
region, one at Fontaine-de-<br />
Vaucluse and the<br />
other at Sault. These<br />
welcome clubs,<br />
organisations and school<br />
parties and help them <strong>to</strong><br />
discover and better enjoy<br />
the bounty <strong>of</strong> leisure<br />
<strong>activities</strong> available in the<br />
