ACTIVITIES
From north to south, the
Vaucluse offers an array
of outdoor leisure activities.
In this wonderful
countryside, you can
pursue at your own pace,
whatever pastime appeals
to you. On foot, by
horseback, on water or
land or even in the air,
there is an activity for
every taste.
Hiking
For those who enjoy
walking, there are nearly
3000 kilometres of
marked footpaths and
hiking trails. And for the
equestrian, 700 kilometres
of bridle paths.
Rock climbing
and spelunking
The Vaucluse boasts
several world class sites
for the pursuit of these
sports. The mountains
of the Dentelles de
Montmirail are excellent
for rock climbing; the
karst of the Vaucluse
ideal for potholers.
Cycling
The region is a veritable
haven for cyclists.
Between discovering the
vineyards of the Côtes
du Rhône, the lavender
fields, the “perched”
hilltop villages, and the
Roman ruins, cyclists are
spoilt for choice in the
Vaucluse.
Gliding
For those who prefer to
take to the sky, there are
six gliding clubs in the
Vaucluse offering to
transport them to
seventh heaven.
Canoe and
kayak
There are at least fifty
kilometres of river
perfect for canoeing and
kayaking in the Vaucluse.
Regional Outdoor
Activity Centres
There are two outdoor
activity centres in the
region, one at Fontaine-de-
Vaucluse and the
other at Sault. These
welcome clubs,
organisations and school
parties and help them to
discover and better enjoy
the bounty of leisure
activities available in the
area.
