5 Community Engagement During 2010, £230,000 was donated from the three airport community funds to worthy local community causes. Airport staff generously handed over 2,500 supermarket vouchers to help support local school children. 14

In 2010, Stansted Airport added the Carbon Trust Standard to its impressive environmental credentials thanks to the successful introduction of a wide range of energy saving initiatives. The airport gained the prized standard after demonstrating a reduction in emissions from buildings and vehicles in 2009 compared with the average of 2008 and 2007.
