Dadyburjor,
chair of our
Department of
Chemical
Engineering,
was recently
elected to a
two-year term
as counselor of
Dady B. Dadyburjor
the Pittsburgh
Local Section of the American Institute
of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), the
world’s leading organization for chemical
engineering professionals. The Pittsburgh
Local Section includes portions of
Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio.
In 1999, for his contributions and service
to the profession, Dadyburjor was elected
a fellow of AIChE, an honor extended to
less than one percent of the membership.
He has also served as president and
treasurer of the Northeast New York
Local Section and on various national
committees of the organization.
Dadyburjor earned his Ph.D. in chemical
engineering from the University of
Delaware. He has been a member of the
WVU faculty for 23 years, and chair of
the Department of Chemical Engineering
since 1999.
Della-Giustina
Named to
HAZARD MANAGEMENT
CONTROL BOARD
Daniel E. Della-
Giustina,
professor of
safety
management in
the Department
of Industrial
and
Management
Systems
Daniel E. Della-Giustina Engineering,
has been appointed to the Board of
Hazard Control Management, a national
certification board for hazard control
managers.
Della-Giustina has a Ph.D. from
Michigan State University, and a M.A.
from American International College,
where he also is a member of the Board
of Trustees. He is editor of the Safety
Forum, published by the School and
Community Safety Society. He also has
been a member of numerous committees
with the American Society for Testing
and Materials (ASTM) and Committee
on Fire Brigades. Della-Giustina was
inducted into the Safety and Health Hall
of Fame in 2002, and was elected a fellow
in The American Society of Safety
Engineers. As an outstanding leader in
the safety profession, he has made many
contributions to hazard control
management as a researcher, author,
teacher, and administrator.

SYMPOSIUM
Katerina
Goseva-
Popstojanova,
an assistant
professor in our
Lane
Department of
Computer
Science and
Electrical
Katerina Goseva-Popstojanova
Engineering, has
been selected to serve as the program
chair of the 18th International
Symposium on Software Reliability
Engineering in 2007. The symposium is
sponsored by the Institute of Electrical
and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
Goseva-Popstojanova is a wellrecognized
researcher and often-quoted
author in the field of software reliability
engineering. She recently served as the
chair of the symposium’s student paper
competition. Her research is currently
supported by a Career Award from the
National Science Foundation and by the
NASA Office of Safety and Mission
Assurance.
This is the latest recognition of the
excellence of the department’s program
in software engineering. In the past five
years, program faculty members have
received awards from the NASA Office of
Safety and Mission Assurance, as well as
two highly regarded early career
development awards from the National
Science Foundation. Students have
received travel grants and outstanding
paper awards from major software
engineering conferences, and have taken
positions with Motorola Labs, Google,
and Microsoft.
