as counselor <strong>of</strong><br />

the Pittsburgh<br />
Local Section <strong>of</strong> the American Institute<br />
<strong>of</strong> Chemical Engineers (AIChE), the<br />
world’s leading organization for chemical<br />
engineering pr<strong>of</strong>essionals. The Pittsburgh<br />
Local Section includes portions <strong>of</strong><br />
Pennsylvania, West Virginia, <strong>and</strong> Ohio.<br />
In 1999, for his contributions <strong>and</strong> service<br />
to the pr<strong>of</strong>ession, Dadyburjor was elected<br />
a fellow <strong>of</strong> AIChE, an honor extended to<br />
less than one percent <strong>of</strong> the membership.<br />
He has also served as president <strong>and</strong><br />
treasurer <strong>of</strong> the Northeast New York<br />
Local Section <strong>and</strong> on various national<br />
committees <strong>of</strong> the organization.<br />
Dadyburjor earned his Ph.D. in chemical<br />
engineering from the University <strong>of</strong><br />
Delaware. He has been a member <strong>of</strong> the<br />
<strong>WVU</strong> faculty for 23 years, <strong>and</strong> chair <strong>of</strong><br />
the Department <strong>of</strong> Chemical <strong>Engineering</strong><br />
since 1999.<br />

Daniel E. Della-Giustina <strong>Engineering</strong>,<br />
has been appointed to the Board <strong>of</strong><br />
Hazard Control Management, a national<br />
certification board for hazard control<br />
managers.<br />
Della-Giustina has a Ph.D. from<br />
Michigan State University, <strong>and</strong> a M.A.<br />
from American International <strong>College</strong>,<br />
where he also is a member <strong>of</strong> the Board<br />
<strong>of</strong> Trustees. He is editor <strong>of</strong> the Safety<br />
Forum, published by the School <strong>and</strong><br />
Community Safety Society. He also has<br />
been a member <strong>of</strong> numerous committees<br />
with the American Society for Testing<br />
<strong>and</strong> Materials (ASTM) <strong>and</strong> Committee<br />
on Fire Brigades. Della-Giustina was<br />
inducted into the Safety <strong>and</strong> Health Hall<br />
<strong>of</strong> Fame in 2002, <strong>and</strong> was elected a fellow<br />
in The American Society <strong>of</strong> Safety<br />
Engineers. As an outst<strong>and</strong>ing leader in<br />
the safety pr<strong>of</strong>ession, he has made many<br />
contributions to hazard control<br />
management as a researcher, author,<br />
teacher, <strong>and</strong> administrator.<br />

Katerina Goseva-Popstojanova<br />
<strong>Engineering</strong>, has<br />
been selected to serve as the program<br />
chair <strong>of</strong> the 18th International<br />
Symposium on S<strong>of</strong>tware Reliability<br />
<strong>Engineering</strong> in 2007. The symposium is<br />
sponsored by the Institute <strong>of</strong> Electrical<br />
<strong>and</strong> Electronics Engineers (IEEE).<br />
Goseva-Popstojanova is a wellrecognized<br />
researcher <strong>and</strong> <strong>of</strong>ten-quoted<br />
author in the field <strong>of</strong> s<strong>of</strong>tware reliability<br />
engineering. She recently served as the<br />
chair <strong>of</strong> the symposium’s student paper<br />
competition. Her research is currently<br />
supported by a Career Award from the<br />
National Science Foundation <strong>and</strong> by the<br />
NASA Office <strong>of</strong> Safety <strong>and</strong> Mission<br />
Assurance.<br />
This is the latest recognition <strong>of</strong> the<br />
excellence <strong>of</strong> the department’s program<br />
in s<strong>of</strong>tware engineering. In the past five<br />
years, program faculty members have<br />
received awards from the NASA Office <strong>of</strong><br />
Safety <strong>and</strong> Mission Assurance, as well as<br />
two highly regarded early career<br />
development awards from the National<br />
Science Foundation. Students have<br />
received travel grants <strong>and</strong> outst<strong>and</strong>ing<br />
paper awards from major s<strong>of</strong>tware<br />
engineering conferences, <strong>and</strong> have taken<br />
positions with Motorola Labs, Google,<br />
<strong>and</strong> Micros<strong>of</strong>t.<br />
