Wireless sensors in the
Washington, D.C.,
area recorded
changes in critical
environmental conditions,
triggering nearby security
cameras, plus a second set of
cameras in Morgantown. The
sensors and cameras, in
Pat Esposito
different locations across the
country, were linked together as part of a sophisticated, multilocation
monitoring system developed by a local company –
Augusta Systems – that relies upon the talents of many WVU
engineering graduates.
Augusta Systems provides technologies to enable rapid
integration, intelligent processing, and enterprise utilization
of sensor data. These technologies enable the most efficient
and effective convergence and use of sensor data in numerous
applications, including security, monitoring, automation, and
asset tracking, among others. The company assists systems
integrators, technology providers, industrial entities, and
government agencies in meeting these challenges.
Led by chief executive officer Pat Esposito, who earned his
B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in industrial engineering from
WVU, the company’s entire engineering department and
much of its software team consists of WVU engineering
graduates. The company works with our faculty as well. “We
are proud of the strong relationship between Augusta Systems
and the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources,” said
Esposito. “And, we are proud to be a part of this community
and of West Virginia.”
Do You Know
an Engineer
of Tomorrow?
There are many ways you can volunteer: visit a high school classroom; identify and encourage a
promising high school student; be a judge in an engineering competition; or host future engineers at
your place of work. WVU engineering alumni find numerous ways to give back to the profession
through donations of time, expertise, and monetary gifts. To become involved please contact us below.
