Feature Artist – Robyn Eades
Image: Cat Skins
Getting things on and off an island is
difficult, so Robyn Eades uses materials
on hand. Tanning wallaby and possum
skins came from seeing carcasses wasting
along the roadsides and cat skins followed
a feral cat trapping project by the NRM.
Fur has such voluptuous and tactile
qualities that it needs very little
ornamentation and chance combinations
can have surprisingly delightful results.
Robyn’s home is full of stuff gathered from
tips, roadsides and clearing sales. Some
things inspire her own creations and she
finds good homes for the rest.
Feature Artist – Khan Wilson
Image: Untitled 3 (detail)
To live and work with the same inspiration
is rare, yet Khan Wilson draws stimulation
from experiences associated with living and
working in rural Tasmania. In particular
the natural landscape, flora and fauna are
engaging subjects for this artist. When
portraying an animal, Khan attempts to
highlight each unique personality on
an intimate level. He strives to give
each animal a voice in an otherwise
silent context. Khan is a founding
member of Wynyard’s community art
centre – Artscape.comm, is involved
in workshops, exhibitions and has
