Feature Artist – Caroline Amos
Image: Landscapes and Layers (detail)
Caroline Amos moved to Tasmania from
Western Australia in 1994 to complete
her Fine Art Degree. So captivated by
the raging energy of the landscape and
Tasmania’s tumultuous history she
decided to live here permanently. Whilst
predominantly a painter, Caroline enjoys
the strong lines of charcoal drawing and
collage. Deconstructing and reconstructing
photographs of abandoned places, she
integrates them with charcoal drawings.
Caroline often uses her own photographic
essays of a specific area to collate a
montaged view of then and now. Caroline’s
community involvement includes freelance
art lecturing and creating environmental
installations in the bush at the Far South
Wilderness Company.
