Stan Adachi<br />

Stan Adachi is <strong>the</strong> Divisional Director Supplier Quality, Business<br />

Operations, Boeing Company, Defense, Space, & Security (BDS). In addition to his BDS<br />

role, Mr Adachi is active in leading overall integration with Boeing’s Commercial Airplane to<br />

drive Enterprise commonality. Mr Adachi has worked in many different capacities including<br />

leading Supplier Management for Boeing Integrated Defense Systems, Huntington Beach.<br />

Prior to that, he held multiple leadership positions in Engineering <strong>and</strong> Program<br />

Management.<br />

Mr Adachi is active in <strong>the</strong> International <strong>and</strong> Americas Aerospace Quality Group, Aerospace<br />

Industries Association, <strong>and</strong> Performance Review Institute.<br />

He is a graduate of <strong>the</strong> University of California, Berkeley with a B.S. <strong>and</strong> M.S. in Structural<br />

Mechanics engineering, <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> University of California, Los Angeles with an MBA.<br />

Richard A. Amato<br />

GE – Aviation<br />

Rick Amato is Manager, Manufacturing Engineering MECoE, Supply<br />

Chain Division that supports GE – Aviation. Manufacturing & Process Engineering provides<br />

manufacturing special processes support including machining, coatings, chemical processes,<br />

composites, joining, engine assembly <strong>and</strong> engine test for <strong>the</strong> GE Aviation’s Global Supply Chain<br />

Division.<br />

Mr Amato began his career at GE Global Research Center in 1981, as a member of <strong>the</strong> Research<br />

Technology Program. He moved to GE Aviation in 1983 <strong>and</strong> held technical leadership positions<br />

within GE Engineering in Evendale, Ohio. Mr. Amato joined <strong>the</strong> Supply Chain Division in 2005 as<br />

<strong>the</strong> Assembly, Test <strong>and</strong> Overhaul Engineering Manager, <strong>and</strong> he moved into his current position of<br />

Manufacturing Engineering Manager in April 2010.<br />

Mr Amato holds a mechanical engineering degree from Michigan Technological University <strong>and</strong> a<br />

master’s in metallurgical engineering degree from Michigan Technological University.


Etienne Galan<br />

Vice-President Purchasing<br />

Snecma (Safran Group)<br />

Etienne Galan holds an engineering diploma from <strong>the</strong> Ecole Polytechnique<br />

<strong>and</strong> Sup'Aero in France. He worked during six years for <strong>the</strong> French Ministry<br />

of Defence, in <strong>the</strong> French navy MRO.<br />

In 1996 he became Quality Vice President of Liebherr Aerospace Toulouse <strong>and</strong> in 1998 Supply<br />

Chain Vice President. He joined Snecma (Safran Group) in 2000 where he has held several<br />

positions such as IT Project Manager, Forging Unit General Manager, Deputy Supply Chain Vice<br />

President, Rotating Parts Center of Excellence General Manager, <strong>and</strong> since <strong>the</strong> end of 2011<br />

Quality Vice President.<br />

Michael J. Hayward<br />

Sector Director International & Logistics Excellence<br />

Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems<br />

Michael Hayward is a sector director for Northrop Grumman Aerospace<br />

Systems, a premier provider of manned <strong>and</strong> unmanned aircraft, space<br />

systems <strong>and</strong> advanced technologies critical to our nation’s security. He is responsible for global<br />

quality for <strong>the</strong> Advanced Development Programs Division <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> sector’s quality managements<br />

system. He also represents Northrop Grumman Corporation as <strong>the</strong> voting member for <strong>the</strong><br />

International Aerospace Quality Group <strong>and</strong> serves on <strong>the</strong> <strong>board</strong> of directors for Performance<br />

Review Institute. Mr Hayward joined Northrop Grumman in 2004 as <strong>the</strong> business area director,<br />

enterprise quality, at <strong>the</strong> former Air Combat Systems. He was responsible for executing <strong>and</strong><br />

overseeing <strong>the</strong> enterprise quality program, which encompassed quality management principles<br />

designed to continuously improve enterprise performance <strong>and</strong> meet or exceed customer<br />

expectations. He also was responsible for establishing systematic procedures to achieve quality<br />

improvements in <strong>the</strong> processes <strong>and</strong> products.<br />

Prior to joining Northrop Grumman, Mr Hayward served as director of Quality for Smiths<br />

Aerospace in Yakima, Washington for five years. Prior to that, he spent 15 years with Lockheed<br />

Martin in Denver, Colorado <strong>and</strong> Balti<strong>more</strong>, Maryl<strong>and</strong> where he held several positions of increasing<br />

responsibility, including chief of quality assurance & test for <strong>the</strong> Atlas Rocket Program <strong>and</strong> lead<br />

quality engineer for <strong>the</strong> Titan Rocket Program.<br />

Mr Hayward holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Regis University <strong>and</strong> a<br />

master's degree in business administration from University of Colorado. He is also a member of<br />

<strong>the</strong> American Society for Quality <strong>and</strong> is a certified manager of quality <strong>and</strong> organizational<br />

excellence, quality engineer, quality auditor, quality technician, <strong>and</strong> quality inspector.


Mario Langlois<br />

Director - Quality Engineering <strong>and</strong> Safety Office<br />

Bombardier Aerospace<br />

Mario Langlois has 25 years of experience in various fields of<br />

Aerospace activities, including Quality Management, Safety<br />

Management <strong>and</strong> Regulatory Authority Requirements. During <strong>the</strong><br />

course of those 25 years, he has held a number of positions in Manufacturing, Quality Assurance,<br />

Distribution <strong>and</strong> Supplier Quality Management. He is currently <strong>the</strong> Director - Quality Engineering<br />

<strong>and</strong> Safety Office at Bombardier Aerospace.<br />

He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Management <strong>and</strong> a Masters Degree in Business Administration.<br />

He is also a member of various committees, including: (i) International Aerospace Quality Group<br />

(IAQG); (ii) Flight Safety Foundation <strong>and</strong> a Board member for : (iii) Performance Review Institute<br />

(<strong>PRI</strong>); <strong>and</strong> (iv) Mouvement Québécois de la Qualité (MQQ) in Quebec.<br />

Tony Maguire<br />

Head of Quality Hawk Aircraft Programmes<br />

BAE Systems PLC<br />

Tony Maguire has 24 years in a various fields of Aerospace activity,<br />

including Manufacturing Operations Quality, Procurement Quality <strong>and</strong><br />

Aircraft Programmes Quality. He is currently based at Warton Unit <strong>and</strong><br />

is responsible for <strong>the</strong> end to end manufacture <strong>and</strong> operation of Hawk<br />

aircraft at Warton, Samlesbury <strong>and</strong> Brough sites in <strong>the</strong> UK. He has a broad business awareness<br />

<strong>and</strong> experience, with a sound underst<strong>and</strong>ing of <strong>the</strong> processes associated with design,<br />

development, manufacturing, maintenance <strong>and</strong> support of a complex aircraft product.<br />

He is originally a skilled Machine Operator, moving on to Inspection, followed by various positions<br />

within <strong>the</strong> Quality function at BAE Systems. Prior to BAE Systems he spent 8 years working in <strong>the</strong><br />

Nuclear Industry for British Nuclear Fuels Ltd as a skilled Fitter/Turner.<br />

Mr Maguire holds a BSC in Quality Management <strong>and</strong> a Post Graduate Diploma in Business<br />

Management. He is also a certified Lean Practitioner.


Ron Meester<br />

Vice President, Global Quality<br />

Honeywell Aerospace<br />

Ron Meester leads <strong>the</strong> Honeywell Aerospace Global Quality <strong>and</strong><br />

Honeywell Operating System (HOS) organizations.<br />

Since joining Honeywell in 1998, Ron has held senior leadership roles in two of Honeywell’s four<br />

divisions including Director of Operations for Air Transport Avionics <strong>and</strong> V.P. – North American<br />

Operations for Environmental <strong>and</strong> Combustion Controls. Ron also was a corporate V.P.<br />

responsible for leading <strong>the</strong> development <strong>and</strong> implementation of <strong>the</strong> Honeywell Operating System<br />

(HOS) Lean/Sigma enabler across Honeywell.<br />

Before joining Honeywell, Ron held progressive operational leadership positions across several<br />

diverse industries. He was Operations Manager for a division of Fiskars, a Finnish-based<br />

consumer products company. Ron also held materials <strong>and</strong> production management leadership<br />

positions at HUSCO International, a privately held leader in <strong>the</strong> manufacture of hydraulic control<br />

valves for industrial <strong>and</strong> agricultural vehicles. Ron spent several years with McDonnell Douglas<br />

(now Boeing) in Long Beach, CA where he worked in all major programs both commercial <strong>and</strong><br />

military.<br />

Ron earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from California State Polytechnic<br />

University at Pomona.<br />

Andy Page<br />

Global Engineering & Technology Executive<br />

Rolls-Royce Plc<br />

Andy Page is <strong>the</strong> Global Engineering & Technology Executive for Rolls-<br />

Royce. In this position, Mr Page is accountable for <strong>the</strong> strategy <strong>and</strong><br />

methodology for developing <strong>the</strong> capability of Rolls-Royce’s supply chain.<br />

The key capability areas of focus are lean production systems, manufacturing method, design<br />

<strong>and</strong> technology. He is based at <strong>the</strong> company’s Derby facility in <strong>the</strong> United Kingdom.<br />

He joined Rolls-Royce in 1987 with a BSc in Mechanical Engineering <strong>and</strong> developed his early<br />

career in Military Aerospace. With previous roles including Chief Engineer for <strong>the</strong> European<br />

TurboUnion consortium <strong>and</strong> Project Executive for Helicopters, he demonstrated his ability to<br />

successfully lead organizations through change with structure <strong>and</strong> vision. His attention was<br />

drawn to <strong>the</strong> challenges <strong>and</strong> opportunities in <strong>the</strong> supply chain <strong>and</strong> subsequently held roles as a<br />

lean transformation Project Director <strong>and</strong> Purchase Director for Rolls-Royce’s division in Germany.<br />

He holds <strong>board</strong> <strong>members</strong>hip of <strong>PRI</strong> (Nadcap), inaugural Director of <strong>the</strong> recently formed<br />

International Aerospace Environmental Group <strong>and</strong> is a member of <strong>the</strong> Research Advisory Group<br />

for <strong>the</strong> Tourettes Association.


Joe Pinto<br />

Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer<br />

Performance Review Institute<br />

Joe was born in Sri Lanka <strong>and</strong> has been in <strong>the</strong> US for <strong>more</strong> than 35<br />

years. He received his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from <strong>the</strong><br />

University of Sri Lanka <strong>and</strong> came to Purdue University where he<br />

completed a MS in Industrial Engineering.<br />

He started his career at Sherwin Williams Company in Crisfield, Maryl<strong>and</strong>, as a Mechanical <strong>and</strong><br />

Industrial Engineer <strong>and</strong> proceeded to hold positions of increasing responsibility as Material<br />

Manager, Plant Manager <strong>and</strong> Director of Manufacturing for <strong>the</strong>ir specialty products division.<br />

After two short stints as Vice President Operations at two privately held companies in<br />

Massachusetts, <strong>and</strong> Seoul, Korea, he joined PPG in 1987 <strong>and</strong> was assigned as Plant Manager of<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir Ontario, Canada Coatings Plant. In 1991, he moved to Tokyo to serve as Director, Business<br />

Development. In Asia/Pacific region, he went on to hold a series of leadership assignments in<br />

Jakarta, Hong Kong, Tianjin, Melbourne <strong>and</strong> Shanghai, during <strong>the</strong> time PPG was establishing <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

coatings business in <strong>the</strong> region. His last assignment in <strong>the</strong> region was Managing Director for<br />

Coatings Asia/Pacific. He returned to <strong>the</strong> US in 2005 as Global Director of Operations for<br />

Performance Coatings, a position he held until his retirement from PPG in 2010. On 16 August<br />

2010, Joe Pinto assumed <strong>the</strong> role of Vice President <strong>and</strong> Chief Operating Officer of <strong>the</strong><br />

Performance Review Institute. He comes to <strong>PRI</strong> with an impressive industrial career <strong>and</strong> broad<br />

global experience. He has a demonstrated track record of successfully leading complex<br />

organizations <strong>and</strong> achieving strategic growth objectives.<br />

Dana M. Pless, CPA, CAE<br />

Chief Financial Officer<br />

SAE International<br />

Dana Pless is SAE International’s Chief Financial officer <strong>and</strong> is responsible<br />

for <strong>the</strong> organization’s overall financial strategies <strong>and</strong> policies, accounting<br />

practices, <strong>and</strong> relationships with lending institutions <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> financial<br />

community. He also provides oversight to all centralized corporate<br />

administrative functions within <strong>the</strong> SAE Enterprise. He joined SAE International in 1998.<br />

Mr Pless has over twenty-five years of management experience in finance <strong>and</strong> administration <strong>and</strong><br />

has worked in association management since 1994. He previously worked at a mining <strong>and</strong> energy<br />

company for ten years in a number of financial positions including internal audit, cost accounting,<br />

<strong>and</strong> finance systems. He began his professional career as an auditor with one of <strong>the</strong> major public<br />

accounting firms. Mr Pless has served on <strong>the</strong> <strong>board</strong>s of <strong>the</strong> Council of Engineering <strong>and</strong> Scientific<br />

Society Executives (CESSE) <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> Pittsburgh Society of Association Executives (PSAE). He is<br />

also a member of <strong>the</strong> American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> American<br />

Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).<br />

Mr Pless holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Accounting from Indiana University School of<br />

Business. He is a Certified Public Accountant <strong>and</strong> a Certified Association Executive.


David L. Schutt PhD<br />

David L. Schutt, PhD, is SAE International's Chief Executive Officer <strong>and</strong><br />

is responsible for overseeing global management <strong>and</strong> operations for<br />

SAE <strong>and</strong> for its affiliates <strong>and</strong> subsidiaries. SAE International is a nonfor-profit<br />

educational <strong>and</strong> scientific organization dedicated to advancing <strong>the</strong> aerospace,<br />

automotive <strong>and</strong> commercial vehicle industries. Its 133,000 <strong>members</strong>—engineers, business<br />

executives, educators, <strong>and</strong> students from <strong>more</strong> than 100 countries—develop technical st<strong>and</strong>ards,<br />

publish authoritative literature, share information <strong>and</strong> exchange ideas for advancing <strong>the</strong><br />

engineering of mobility systems.<br />

As CEO, Dr Schutt also serves as <strong>the</strong> President of <strong>the</strong> Performance Review Institute, an affiliate<br />

of SAE International. In this role, he provides strategic oversight for <strong>the</strong> organization <strong>and</strong> serves<br />

on its Board of Directors.<br />

Junji Tsuji<br />

IHI Corporation<br />

In 1982, Junji Tsuji graduated University <strong>and</strong> joined IHI Corporation (<strong>the</strong>n<br />

Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries, Co. Ltd.) where he worked in new<br />

material development, material supplier control <strong>and</strong> designing manufacturing processes of new<br />

products. In 1997, Mr Tsuji became <strong>the</strong> Manager of Fabricated Parts Manufacturing Group at <strong>the</strong><br />

Tanashi plant. Since 2001 he has been <strong>the</strong> Manager of Manufacturing Technology Group of<br />

Production Planning Department, Aero-engine <strong>and</strong> space operations.<br />

Li Wei<br />

General Director, Quality <strong>and</strong> Safety Department<br />

AVIC<br />

Li Wei, female, graduated from Beihang University in 1987, master<br />

professional degree, reliability; at present she holds <strong>the</strong> position of<br />

general director of Quality <strong>and</strong> Safety department in China Aviation<br />

Industry Corporation, in charge of quality management <strong>and</strong> civil aircraft<br />

airworthiness.


Steve Wells<br />

Vice President of Quality, Aircraft Systems<br />

UTC Aerospace Systems<br />

Steve Wells has over 25 years of experience developing <strong>and</strong> improving<br />

processes <strong>and</strong> management systems in <strong>the</strong> advanced materials,<br />

electronics <strong>and</strong> aerospace industries. He has expertise in creating<br />

business solutions through application of CI methods, including: Lean, Six Sigma, LPD, DFSS,<br />

TPM, ISO9000/AS9100, Nadcap special processes, SEI-CMM, Baldrige/EFQM, team-based<br />

problem solving, process controls, modeling <strong>and</strong> software/systems engineering. Mr Wells is<br />

leading Quality <strong>and</strong> ACE for <strong>the</strong> Aircraft Systems Segment of UTC Aerospace Systems. He is a<br />

member of AIChe, ASQ, <strong>and</strong> SAE <strong>and</strong> sits on <strong>the</strong> Quality Council of MAPI as well as <strong>the</strong> <strong>PRI</strong> Board<br />

of Directors.<br />

Mr Wells holds an MBA as well as MS Electrical Engineering <strong>and</strong> BS Chemical Engineering <strong>and</strong><br />

certifications from <strong>the</strong> American Society for Quality Certified Quality Manager / Operational<br />

Excellence (ASQ CQM/OE). He is also a Six Sigma Master Black Belt (AlliedSignal), a certified<br />

Lean Practitioner (Goodrich Corporation) <strong>and</strong> a Maryl<strong>and</strong> & North Carolina State Quality Award<br />

Examiner.<br />

Jianqiang Xu<br />

Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd. (COMAC)<br />

Jianqiang Xu is <strong>the</strong> Deputy General Manager of Science Technology &<br />

Quality Department <strong>and</strong> Chief Quality Controller of C919 Truck Airplane Program, COMAC. He is<br />

in charge of quality management <strong>and</strong> basic technology development of COMAC. He started his<br />

career at Shanghai Spaceflight Manufacture Factory in 1985, as an engineer of Calibration<br />

Department. In 1992, he was promoted to be <strong>the</strong> Deputy Manager of Quality Management<br />

Department, Engineer. He became <strong>the</strong> Vice-Director of Institute of Shanghai System Engineering<br />

in 1997. From 1999 to 2008 he was <strong>the</strong> Director of Quality Management Department of <strong>the</strong><br />

Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology. Since 2009, he joined <strong>the</strong> COMAC as <strong>the</strong> current<br />

position.<br />

Mr. Xu obtains a BS Electrical Engineering from Beijing Institute of Technology <strong>and</strong> an MBA from<br />

Asia International Open University (Macau), respectively in 1985 <strong>and</strong> 2001.
