Good News People will return
OLA is one of only 40 parishes in the U.S. and 4 in the Archdiocese
of Los Angeles to participate in the Good News People
program. Its focus is Catholic Social Teaching leading to action.
This 14-week program for small, faith-sharing groups just completed
its first year with great success among 120 OLA parishioners
in 12 groups.
Deacon John Tullius and our JustAct Ministry is seeking the
names of parishioners who would like to join a group this fall
for an initial seven weeks, followed by seven weeks in spring.

reflection and the affirmation of the OLA community.”

the presence of the Holy Spirit [among us].”
“I feel more deeply aware of the Christ who exists within
each of us… and the plight of others. I have developed an interest
in exploring [service opportunities] I had not considered
before.”
Is there interest in a
widow/widowers group?
The Bereavement Ministry has
been approached by several people
inquiring about a group for widows
and widowers at OLA. They are not
seeking a formal support group but
an outreach and social opportunity for
those who wish to occasionally get
together with others who have lost a
spouse. The purpose would be friendship
and casual support in a welcoming
and familiar environment.
We would appreciate your comments
so we can assess whether or
not there is enough interest to organize
a new group at OLA. Please feel

Victims Assistance Ministry
The Archdiocesan Office of Victim Assistance
Ministry periodically offers a support program for
adult survivors of childhood abuse or neglect –
A Faith-Based Response to Adult Survivors of
Childhood Abuse and Neglect. This recovery program
uses a psycho-educational model. The model
is “educational” in that it teaches how the trauma of
childhood abuse and neglect typically impacts individuals.
It is “psycho-educational” in that it provides
tools for participants to safely examine and
regulate their feelings, thought patterns and behavior.
The entire program is presented in the context
of prayer for God’s healing and is not a psychotherapy
group.
The program follows a ten week format and is
available in both English and Spanish. The dates,
time and location of the next groups will be determined
