SPRING CLASS GIFT<br />
who served as Governor/U.S. Senator – <strong>Law</strong>t<strong>on</strong><br />
Chiles ’55 – whose memorabilia will be <strong>the</strong><br />
focal point <strong>of</strong> a two-story gallery. Also featured<br />
will be additi<strong>on</strong>al stack capacity, an open<br />
reserve area, <strong>the</strong> Justice Stephen C. O’C<strong>on</strong>nell<br />
’40 Supreme Court Reading Room, an intimate<br />
computer training lab, a bar <strong>of</strong> eight multimedia<br />
work stati<strong>on</strong>s, and 13 student group<br />
c<strong>on</strong>ference rooms.<br />
“When completed, our new Legal Informati<strong>on</strong><br />
Center will be am<strong>on</strong>g <strong>the</strong> top 20 academic law<br />
libraries in <strong>the</strong> U.S. based <strong>on</strong> size,” Jerry noted.<br />

Patrick Shann<strong>on</strong> is coordinating c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong><br />
activities <strong>on</strong> behalf <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> law school, working<br />
with UF Facilities Planning & C<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong>’s<br />
Howie Fergus<strong>on</strong>, project manager.<br />
Alumni planning <strong>on</strong> visiting <strong>the</strong> law school<br />
should plan to arrive earlier than necessary due<br />
to c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong> arrangements, as should any law<br />
alums and o<strong>the</strong>r UF grads who regularly use <strong>the</strong><br />
grounds for Fall tailgating.<br />
By this fall, c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong> progress and visiting<br />
instructi<strong>on</strong>s will be posted <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> school’s Web site<br />
and a Web Cam will be operating to show c<strong>on</strong>tinuing<br />
c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong> progress.<br />

Year Nicole Kibert – who<br />
joined statewide firm Carlt<strong>on</strong><br />
Fields in its Tampa <strong>of</strong>fice –<br />
presented <strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>tributi<strong>on</strong> to<br />
Mills with <strong>the</strong> request it be<br />
used to help support 10 <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
school’s student organizati<strong>on</strong>s<br />
and a variety <strong>of</strong> student/<br />
faculty programs. Student<br />
members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Law</strong> Alumni<br />
Council coordinated <strong>the</strong><br />
fund-raising effort. This is <strong>the</strong><br />
fourth c<strong>on</strong>secutive class to<br />
raise funds for UF<strong>Law</strong> since<br />
renewal by Fall 2001 graduates<br />
<strong>of</strong> a traditi<strong>on</strong> dormant<br />
in <strong>the</strong> 90’s. With return <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
“class gift,” more than $66,400<br />
has been given or pledged to<br />
<strong>the</strong> <strong>College</strong> by its last four<br />
graduating classes.<br />
