Some women, however, d<strong>on</strong>’t see<br />
<strong>the</strong>mselves as being much different from<br />
<strong>the</strong>ir male counterparts.<br />
“I’ve never made any decisi<strong>on</strong>s, especially<br />
those regarding my educati<strong>on</strong>, with<br />
any c<strong>on</strong>siderati<strong>on</strong> to me being a woman<br />
or that being a woman would hinder me<br />
in anyway,” says Danielle Burns, a thirdyear<br />
UF<strong>Law</strong> student.<br />
Some experts are not sure <strong>the</strong> five-year<br />
average <strong>of</strong> women outnumbering men as<br />
UF<strong>Law</strong> enrollees is going to be a c<strong>on</strong>tinuing<br />
trend, though <strong>the</strong>y agree <strong>the</strong> law pr<strong>of</strong>essi<strong>on</strong><br />
is forever changed.<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>Women</str<strong>on</strong>g> Impacting <strong>Florida</strong> <strong>Law</strong> Review<br />
“I think whe<strong>the</strong>r it’s law schools or<br />
medical schools, <strong>the</strong> fact women are<br />
bringing <strong>the</strong>ir perspectives to <strong>the</strong> table<br />
changes so much,” says Browner, who<br />
served <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> President’s cabinet at a<br />
time when <strong>the</strong> percentage <strong>of</strong> women <strong>on</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> cabinet was higher than ever before.<br />
“We are skilled in our pr<strong>of</strong>essi<strong>on</strong>s, and<br />
when we come as mo<strong>the</strong>rs, daughters<br />
and sisters, we bring those experiences.<br />
The character <strong>of</strong> law schools and <strong>the</strong><br />
character <strong>of</strong> America has changed<br />
because women have d<strong>on</strong>e and will<br />
c<strong>on</strong>tinue to do this.”<br />
While <strong>the</strong> first female Editor-in-Chief <strong>of</strong> <strong>Florida</strong> <strong>Law</strong> Review came in 1949, it took more than 25 years before <strong>the</strong><br />
sec<strong>on</strong>d was selected in 1975. But in <strong>the</strong> 28 years since, about <strong>on</strong>e-half <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> editors-in-chief have been women:<br />
1949: Corise Patricia Varn<br />
1975: Jacqueline R. Griffin<br />
1977: Shar<strong>on</strong> E. Best<br />
1980: Linda Ebin<br />
1983: Caroline Bensabat Marshall<br />
1984: Tracy Nichols<br />
1986: Paula M. Sicard<br />
1987: Susan L. Kelsey<br />
1988: Karen M. Chastain<br />
1989: Elizabeth Belsom Johns<strong>on</strong><br />
1991: Terri R. Day<br />
And since 1980, approximately <strong>on</strong>e-half <strong>the</strong> Review’s editorial board also has c<strong>on</strong>sisted <strong>of</strong> women.<br />
1992: Diane A. Tomlins<strong>on</strong><br />
1995: Laura Ann Fouraker Gardner<br />
1996: Dabney D. Ware<br />
1997: Jill N. Willis<br />
1997: Christina Bohannan<br />
