E-ROSTERING ROLLOUT
CONTINUES ACROSS
NURSING
The roll out of the e-Rostering
system is continuing throughout the
nursing staff. The units currently live
are wards 5, 8, 11, 14, 23, 25, 26, 27, 28,
Gastro Unit, ICU and A & E. Wards 1 and
4 are the next to start training this month.
The team are also embarking on a pilot
of medical staff rostering. All other staff
groups will follow once the nursing staff
rollout is completed.
The e-Rostering Team recently held
an information stand for staff. This
was to answer any questions that
staff had regarding e-Rostering and its
implementation onto their wards and
departments. It was very well attended
and one of the biggest questions we
had was around personal patterns and
requests.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many requests can I make a
month?
You can make six requests over the four
week roster period. This will be at a pro
rata rate for part time employees.
Can I change or swap shifts at the last
minute?
Yes you can. You have to do this through
your ward sister/ward manager but swaps
and last minute changes can always be
made with their approval of course!
Does the system know who put the
annual leave requests in first?
Yes. The system will show the ward
sisters/managers the order in which
requests for leave were made and it is at
their discretion if the request is approved
depending on the service needs.
Will e-Rostering take longer
to do than paper off-duty?
At first it will take longer. Like
any new system it does take a
while to use due to the complexity of it,
but after the first few months it does get
easier and quicker. Also the system is not
just an off-duty record. It’s used to record
sickness and study leave, for example, so
this will take slightly longer at first. Once
all these extra functions are being used it
will save time duplicating sickness returns,
checking timesheets, etc
Why is it changing when our current
off-duty works and is it costing the
Trust money?
Duty rotas may seem to work for
your ward but this system is being
implemented across the Trust and is
needed for lots of reasons. Benefits
include better skill mix visibility, reduction
in bank/TNR usage, reduction in
paperwork for things such as sickness and
timesheets. Of course it is costing the trust
financially but the expected
financial benefits are far more
than the system has cost.
If I work Bank Holidays
how do I claim my
enhancements?
When the system is live with
payroll the enhancements
will be paid from payroll
via the e-Rostering system
therefore it is extremely
important that the
information regarding the
shifts you work is accurate
in the system.
