Born in Bradford’s Fourth Annual Teddy Bear’s Picnic
will take place in Lister Park on Thursday, July 14, from
11.30am-2pm.
The event is a birthday celebration for the children of the
first mums to be recruited to Born in Bradford and is also an
opportunity for any Foundation Trust department to have a
stand at which to promote their own health information.
Last year Breast Feeding, Healthy Eating, Sickle Cell Anaemia
and Chronic Heart Disease were among the 40 information
stalls present.
The event is widely advertised around the city and all 13,500
BiB families receive an invitation through their BiB newsletter.
Last year over 800 people attended, the event was a great
success and we expect more people this year.
The Teddy Bears’ Picnic brings people together from all
across Bradford. It is a great way to get your health messages
out to this large number of parents with young children.

HEP C TRAINING DAY
Bradford’s liver team have hosted a training day
on viral hepatitis for healthcare professionals
from the Yorkshire region. Liver experts from
Leeds and Hull contributed to the day which was
attended by more than 60 delegates from a variety of
organisations including the drug services.
Shabana Begum, from the Hep C Trust, gave a
presentation on the life-threatening condition, along
with two other patients who spoke about their illness.
“The patients’ life stories greatly moved the audience
and gave clinicians a real insight into what it’s like to
live with the virus,” said BRI consultant hepatologist,
Dr Sulleman Moreea.
